As above really, I already have a shires one for my mare but i want to get one for my youngster but the shires ones are now £62! I don't think i paid that much, so who else makes them, i want a good quality one but I think £62 is a bit pricey for what is essentially a rain sheet and will only be used for a couple of months! Thanks

Try looking on ebay ?? I think Weatherbeeta do a Landa 100g.

I wouldn't want to spend a lot of money on a rug for a youngster as it will get outgrown pretty quickly. However if you intend to sell it on it is worth getting a popular brand.

If you need a bit of extra thickness why not put a fleece on under a rain sheet?

As a rule I tend not to rug my youngsters (well bred sports horses) unless absolutely necessary - it definitely works out cheaper!

Oh thank you, unfortunately he has had to be rugged in the past as he is a poor doer and he is three now he has been backed and will be being broken as a 4 year old so i dont want him too furry! I'll have a look at the weatherbeeta or as you say i may just put a lightweight stable on under his rain sheet, thanks

I love the Weatherbeeta 100g - it is a really versatile rug and I think it actually stays drier than the standard rainsheet (not sure why, maybe just because the waterproof material isn't directly against the coat??).

i have the weatherbeeta landa freesyle combo 100g for my horse, really good rug with all the features of weatherbeeta including the wrap around tail flap which i love ! got mine for £30 as my local tack shop had a massive rug sale

I have one for my youngster, she probably grew out of it during the summer, but I waited until I found one in a sale.

Shires Tornado 100g less than £30 at Hope Valley Saddlery.
