I'm having a bit of a wardrobe sort for my boys & after a 100g for one of them.

I've come across the Weatherbeeta Ultra Cozi which looks amazing & would be my go to ordinarily, but, I've also just found a Le Mieux Kudos for near on the same price.

I've never owned a Le Mieux rug before, it looks good with all the features I'd look for. Has anyone else got one? Are they any good? 🤷‍♀️

The reason I'm considering the Le Mieux is because it looks deeper cut in the body, more like a P.E. My lads a deep in the body warmblood & rugs like Rambos etc look like mini skirts on him 🤦‍♀️

I'd just get the PE if you like the way they're cut. I know they're a marmite rug but I really rate them. You can get some fantastic second hand ones on the PE rugs facebook group. I got a 50g brand new still in the bag for £70 and a 100g that had been worn once for £90 in the summer.

A thumbs up for the Le Mieux Kudos. They fit my boy and stay in place really well, even with a thoroughly good roll! 😊

I had a lemieux rug i got 6’6 which is her normal size, way too tight on the chest she could barely bend to eat, i liked the rug so i purchased 6’9 instead which was also too tight/narrow on the chest. Large chested wb x id.
PE and swish fit perfectly.

fyi, weatherbeeta are currently running a scheme that gives you £50 off if you pledge to donate an old rug;)

lily has a lemieux stable rug and i don’t think they’re designed for her shape at all, it fits fine but it’s not perfect, if your horse isn’t a fine sporty specimen i’d go for weatherbeeta.

personally I like Gallop. All with different coloured binding to depict the weight, nice fit too.

The ultra cozi has a belly flap bit, and are quite a deep rug anyway, I have them, they are great, the water just beads off them, they don't rub any of the horses, and wear very well, still look new despite a lot of use.

I'm a big weatherbeeta fan so would always pick it.

A friend recently bought the Le Mieux rainsheet for her new giant horse, because it appeared so deep, and ots been a good fit.

I wouldn't touch PE with a barge pole.

I've got Weatherbeata rugs going back years. They're a good fit on rangey Old Horse, with his shark's fin wither and are deep enough to cover his belly almost completely. He's an enthusiastic roller and flies round his paddock, bucking and f***ing. They never seem to move or leak. He's also got old Horseware ones, which are equally efficient. Amigo ones suit the in-between days. He has layers of outdoor rugs on in winter, and they are removed when he comes in, as necessary. He's bedded on thick straw with good banks, which I think helps to keep him warm.

Another for neither!
Have weatherbeetas and having had a run in with their customer service after a brand new “ultra tough” rug leaked like a stable rug to be told they’re not supposed to be completely waterproof!
I was put off buying any more, I only continue to use them as I won’t buy new rugs when they’re serviceable!
LeMieux are known to have quality control issues with their rugs, and there was a whole batch of the arika rugs that was recalled!

Horseware Rambo has been my choice that has been worth it! Even second hand they’ve been good! Although they’re spendy

I have a Swish medium weight turnout for my mare who is WB x ISH and wide through the chest and it fits her beautifully and doesn't move.

This is an old thread but found on a search. I'm on a hunt for a new lite-ish (anywhere between 50 and 100g fill) turnout. I'm a weatherbeeta fan for mine as they seem to fit him the best, especially his extremely large shoulder for a TB. Weatherbeeta has a sale on their comfitec ultra cozi detach-a-neck lite/medium atm - £150 instead of £250 - but I noticed the shoulder gusset is at the front instead of the side. I'm worried it will restrict movement and rub. Does anyone have any experience?

Rambo/Amigo definitely aren't a good fit for him. Was looking at PE as they've got a couple of 1680D blankets that look like they could work for him but have seen some not-so-good things about them.

I should add: nothing less than 1680D will work for him. I've been extremely lucky that his current lite has lasted about 2.5 years which is 1200D but this is an anomaly.

I can only comment on my own experience but I actually prefer the gusset further forward. My mare is a big moving Welshie and the rug seems more steady on her during all her various antics. Definitely no rubbing and no restrictions on silly Welsh cob airs above the ground.

The Le Mieux Kudos 100g is my second favourite rug (6'9 ID with a reasonably sized chest/shoulder), it fits beautifully and is super waterproof! I like the way its cut in front, like a V with some soft material either side as I find a lot of rugs look to cut in when they have their heads down, I also like that it has three straps and good solid fastenings at the front. I also have the Amigo Bravo 250g 12 Reflectech which also fits super well (and is my favourite, only because I think it looks nicer though, they perform the same) and has a triple fastening on the front. (I happen to have photos as I sent them to YM when I first brought the rugs down 🤣 )

Before writing off Horseware, I would consider the Rambo Optimo or Amigo XL.

I have a PE with wither relief, and it's alright. I don't care for Weatherbeeta. I am intrigued by the LeMieux rugs, so I'm happy to see them mentioned in this thread.

Those all look nice and deep 😍 I quite like the look of the Fieldmasta - especially the belly straps that go through the fabric - but not so keen on the 1200D fabric...especially having watched him out in the field lately. He always looks like an absolute sausage in Amigo's so have stopped trying 😂😂

Are the new masta rugs still cut like mini skirts? The older versions are so teeny 😂

Horse at our yard has a kudos, it’s very nice I must say! Looks lovely quality and fits her ISH well.
