my poor neddy, friend rang this morning to say taio my exeter sales purchase was on 3 legs. nothing obvious but he couldnt move, went to yard, nothing jumping out, monitored for a bit and started to get worried .. called vet, we all agreed call out 1st thing in morning.

horsie went down hill with very mild colic, bit of sweating lots of laying down etc called vet back, vet out mainly at this point for the 3 legged bit, but agreed mild cloic so normal pain relife/buscopan.

still only one poo done by 6 pm tonight so when and nabbed some bran off a mate, neddy still not good so vet back out at 11 tonight, so far we are on around a 12 hour cloic stint, he has been tubed, and had a rectal, he is stil eating /drinking ok.

I did take him for a wander for a few minutes to get him moving but he is croniclly lame so not easy.

horsie was for sale .. and had a viewing yesterday.. just goes to show the cheap buggers cost the most:mad:

vibes needed for a mr taio, on 3 legs with colic. im home for a bit but back at 4am to meet the vet there..

iv e never delt with a colic lasting this long before, its a bit scary.

OH hun that's ***** :( A friend had a long colic stint with her horse once, he was down for hours and the vet was about to PTS when he let out the biggest fart ever, then stood up and started munching his haynet.
Can also sympathise with walking a colicing horse that is on 3 legs (or in my case, 2), it's not fun, but hopefully he will come through. (((hugs)))

ETA: My YO's old TB was down with colic for 5 days! Pulled through and was still her lovely crazy self up until she died.

Try and rest! Fingers crossed you;ll get up there and he'll have turned the corner. Snoopy kept me in the barn for nearly 5 days with colic and plenty of vets bills for a £43 hill pony silly thing! He kept passing the odd tiny poo. I swear when I got some really lush grass in to him that's what budged it all eventually! not the thousands of of syringes of paraffin! Fingers crossed xx

he is perkier this moening and in a much better mood, 3 poos. danger now is painkiller wears off leg starts to hurt again and it sets the colic back off.. and of course we still have no idea why he is hopping lame.

am on coffee and redbull! back up in a couple of hours. .

i lost bonnie to colic :( i hope he gets better soon
could be stressed due to whats happened his life changed a bit

diamonds done her suppensory ligament pain in a$$

thankies everyone, DL. still no idea what is wrong with leg, we put a poltice on yesterday just to see if any thing came out of hoof, am off up again in a bit, just having a coffee.

HG thanks hunny.. i shall reply to you pm soon xxxx

hope you get some rest soon and pony gets better mine is in hospital atm with colic but is on the mend fingers crossed I feel for u no sleep and the stress sometimes wonder if it's worth it good luck

thanks peeps, neddy is so much better, not quite 100% so still monitoring till later tonight, his lameness is also much better nothing on the poultice, but there is sweeling around the tendon, BUT its not hot and he is now weight barring, and sound in walk but hobbling in trot, ive not had vet back today am going to see how he is tonight, and tomorrow morning and if still improving then will discuss with vetty and just box rest ect.

on the really flip side of the coin somebody rang up about him .. i did say he was lame and has had colic for near 24 hours but she was so keen she came to have an intial look and loves him, just need to see what happens with his leg.

F.. have done caffeen/redbull oh is driver for the day now so i fully confess ive just sat down with a glass of white! .. gonna eat chill then go back if all is good im coming home having a shower/another glass of white and passing out lol!

Dizzydoo.. its such a hard call at times isnt it, iM Very lucky that my vets let me pay my bills in bits.. well put it this way ive been paying 20 quid a week for the past 3 years, was just about at zero on my vets bill and BANG its back up heading towards a grand.. this horse has had a virus and my baby ned got a puncture wound.. value wise this horse isnt worth the vets bill but I could never let a horse suffer or take a short cut. so no in many ways it isnt worth it, but the bugger is still a living thing with feelings/intellligence and character.. oh and of course he doesnt pay his own bills.. mother does LOL.

If he is still non weight bearing what, 2 days? later he needs to be invesitgated more than just wait and see. A swollen tendon could be an infected tendon sheath which needs treated asap for best prognosis, or it could be due to a bandage if you were poulticing and had a bandage that high. Has he had hoof testers on or any actual investigation of lameness? He may well colic again if you don't sort out the lameness as he is in pain if he is non weight bearing.
