i have heard that yesterday at towerland at the junior premier show, a 128cm pony turned over in a double and broke its front leg, the pony had to be put down in the ring, unfortunatly this was a tragic accident for all involved. i am not commenting on the riding of this pony as i wasnt there, but after watching pony classes for the last twenty plus years this was always going to happen to some one, as the junior riders are now always encouraged to go faster and faster to win, as we know going faster is dangerous and does not necesarily win classes, we shoud be encouraging young riders to ride properly again and for a system to be put into place like british eventing, that if you feel that a rider is not safe they can not compete, and to have a steward on hand to implement this? i feel we could learn alot from b.e and there safty standards.
