How much fun does that look, would have loved to do that as a kid (well I suppose in a way we did but just round the fields)?! What a lovely little pony!
Pony racing is great fun. Our Pony Club organise a Pony Race Day at a proper racecourse and it is run almost exactly like proper racing, with all the little jockeys being weighed in and out, led by their 'grooms' to the paddock etc. The kids love it!
The top level is really competitive with a lot of the 14.2s being full TBs that didn't grow enough and a lot of the jockeys come from racing or point-to-point families! However, there are also novice races, ones for the smaller height ponies, and also ones that stipulate that ponies must have represented their PC branch in a team, to ensure that general all-rounder ponies are catered for as well.
Oh that sounds like so much fun, has Sprog had a go!?!? Now I need to persuade my RC to do Cob or Fjord racing, I would love to have a go on a race track!
So far we've chickened out of letting Sprog have a go - the pony gets quite keen at the start of XC anyway, and I think if we raced her as well, then it might just blow her brain!
ours have a race day at cheltenham race course! i went to watch a friend there and it does look like a lot of fun, but the kids are so spoilt and all have mini racehorses- TBs that didnt grow! so its actually quite serious, but i would have loved to have a go but am a bit big now!
plus my friend pony raced her pony- it has completley changed it.. for the worse
lol Bob would be in his element! i love when we are out hunting, and we trundle down the trailer ramp infront of all the big hunters whos riders all normally say "oo good a small one atleast i wont be right at the back" then as we head off i like to glimpse back at them smuggly in the distance
In fact...this is us lettign of some steam, i.e. not even trying!

Maybe you could pursuade H&H to organise a cob race at a proper racecourse for an article...

That would be a really good idea. I once borrowed my friend's racing exercise saddle for a few weeks while I was waiting for my new saddle to arrive. You wouldn't believe the funny looks I got!
