13 stone weight limit!!

Really thats a fine weight for your height, especially if you are fit.

The weight range for your height is 10st 10lbs to 13st 10lbs. BUT, thats for s normal person, not an athlete.

So I would maybe give them a call back.........explain you are an athlete and that you are fit and have ridden before.

My OH is 6ft 1 and 15 stone......and to me I dont think he looks fat - chubby but not fat. But I dont think that 13stone is that bad a weight really. considering some TBs carry over 12 stone in a race.....

urg, he's a student and a rugby player. You guys have no taste

(no offence vindicated, though I expect you're big enough and man enough to take it!)

Anyway DB, I am one of the usual suspects :p

nothing wronmg with rugby players.....the surgeon who operated on my ankles was a giant, i'm 5'6 and i came to mid chest:eek:, of a rugby player.......but we really do need pictures just to make sure you are telling the truth about your physical fittness;)

Auslander is 26 too old:(?

My OH had same issues lovely, Hes not a rugby player ( far too soft) but hes 6'8 and 17 stone most of the time. my two horses can easily carry 20stn with no bother, shame your not nearer Could use a rugby lad to help me with some fencing LOL. Some times your best off visiting a school to let the YO eye you up ( sounded bad didn't it). but you at 13.5 stn must be less then a 32" waist - I.e Tiny!

To the OP, I feel your annoyance. My friend wanted to book the Crillo ride too last summer but we didn't end up doing it as I'm over the weight limit too. We were just going to show up and book in person so they could see me in person but never got around to doing it.

Since you are in Leicestershire, it may be worth just booking in person so they can actually see you and then maybe they can make a better judgement call? I'm just glad I learned to ride as a kid and that I have my own horse to have lessons on, as at 13.3 stone, I wouldn't have a hope in hell of finding a riding school to ride at despite only being tall and not being obese!

I understand about the welfare of the horse but riding schools should really use their discretion and factor in the weight AND height of rider as tall women and men can't always be stick weights.

This is what 13stone looks like on a tall woman and no, i'm not wearing a corset underneath by habit either, lol :D

Erm, think I'm going to upset a lot of people.

In the last few weeks, I've heard about some research thats been done with the pliance system.

Pressure from the saddle to the horse was measured. The impact depending on the weight of the rider was clear. Given the folks involved, I don't think they would have had any beginner riders skewing results.

What happened to the pictures we asked for?

And students are great. They have loadss of time to muck out while ur at work and are in the habit of learning so u can train them up easily! ;-)

U did know this would happen surely op?

Riding centres often have an upper weight limit. It's to do with how 'light' a rider rides. When horses have to deal with novice/unfit riders who aren't in control of how they land in the saddle it's best to put on the weight limit.

Infuriating I know - but there to generally protect the horses backs.
