13hh cob

I own a little 13hh/13.1hh cob, Tont, and I'm just a bit worried that I'll outgrow him or at least look ridiculously tall on him. Tont is stocky (and quite a bit overweight ) with quite a bit of bone, so I think he could carry quite a bit of weight. I'm 14, 5'1 (and I doubt I'll get any taller as my parent's are 5'0 and 5'6) and weigh 6 stone.

What would you say would be the height and weight limit for Tont, as does anyone on here ride a pony around his size? (it just worries me a bit as everyone seems to have 15hh horses)

My first pony at 17yrs old was a 12.3hh cob. I was/am 5ft 1" and more than 6 stone! I was more like 9 to 9 1/2 stone and we did loads, jumping, galloping across fields etc. I 'moved up' (lol) at 18 to a 13.1 pony ha ha and now at 35 ride a huge 14.1 pony. As long as you have a weight carrying pony at your height I wouldnt worry at all about ever getting too big!

i agree, he could easily carry 10 stone
i dont think you need to worry about looking too big or being too heavy for him

I think you'll be fine. To give you an idea I'm 5'8" and weight about 11 stone. My pony is a 13.2hh Fell pony - he's very chunky and has plenty of bone but I've backed him myself and my lardy bum doesn't seem to stop him trying to bu**er off on stubble fields!!

Its just a lady i know was loaning out a pony who looks very similar with same name and height only a short while ago!

I started loaning him just over a year ago, and I was given legal ownership of him for christmas

He was owned by Sue Watkins before, and he was basically a field ornament so she tried loaning him out as a companion

Ah not the same pony but how strange he does look quite similar to this ladies pony i know same name, colour, height and build but her tont may be a bit darker on his skewbald bits.
