14hh pony, girth size?

As title. Does anyone know? I plan to buy a second hand one on eBay so I won't be able to take it back to the shop if it doesn't fit.

I'd measure with a piece of string, it also depends on how long your girth straps are... Mine generally took a 38", but over the years did take a 42" and 44" before I replaced my girth straps.

Girths are measured in inches, so can you measure your pony's belly from girth strap to girth strap?

Our 14.2hh takes a 46'' so would be guess yours would be needing a 42'' - 44'' depending on how deep it is through the girth.

I`d measure first, it`s dependent on a few factors, barrel width build and type of saddle. My 15.1 (ish) with a Saddle Company saddle, needs a 44" girth, but my 12.2hh pony needs the same sized girth lol

I'd say, the same as rugs, it varies quite dramatically. My 13.3hh takes a 38'', whilst I know others of similar heights are looking at 44'' odd girths.

Only way is to measure with their saddle on. You could get 10 14hh ponies together and all would be different.

Its just like asking what size shoes does a 5'6" person take

It's awkward because I need to buy a girth to try saddles out. I'm going to have to guess the size a bit but needed some idea where to start!
