Is it true that the 15 - 15.3hh horses in europe sell cheaper as they are not in demand? even the ones with the good bloodlines?

I love my small horses, Dunlop is only 15.2 and Ellie 15.3 but they are so much fun.

Yep. I have just bought Penny who is 165cm so about 15.3/16hh (I think) and she was a LOT cheaper because of it. Especially with the Dutch as they are all giants (you should see me and my boyfriend, who is Dutch, we're like little and large). I also went to see a 3yr old KWPN unbroken gelding who had the most amazing jump and he was at 4500 euros purely because he was about 15.2hh. If he'd been 16.2hh + he'd have probably gone for about 9000euros!!

Not sure about other breeds as I was mainly looking at the KWPNs when buying but it was certainly the case with them. Also, the exports of the Dutch horses to Britain and especially America have made it impossible to buy through breeders/dealers if you are on a budget. They just get silly money for them (American's will buy happy hackers for 10,000 euros and more). All those that I looked at were through private sellers and were much more reasonably priced.

Yes definitely - I have a 15.3 KWPN mare, very well bred , all her dam line are keur / ster (not sure what that means!) but she was too small to grade so consequently cheap (ish!)

sorry i didnt make it very clear did i  i was meaning the warmbloods!

I'm thinking ahead to the future when my YO's daughter wants to take over on Dunlop (as he belongs to them and i'm just loaning him and bringing him on ready for her)

I'd like to get myself a youngster and had heard that the smaller ones on the continent go for much less than the bigger ones
