The fact that he has been jailed at all is good news, perhaps this will set a precedence and people will start thinking before doing something like this.

He is clearly mentally disturbed, and looked far too pleased with himself in the pic for my liking. I hope that whilst in prison they look at his mental issues, to try to prevent this sort of behavious happening again on his release, not only to another animal, but to anyone who has to come into contact with him.
