I have seen online that CL touring country is up to 16.2 but have just called CL and they say absolutely fine for my 16.3. They suggested giving him the whole space as he would travel better that way but would want him to be comfortable with the centre partition up too in case I needed to travel 2. Like the left front unload as he is quite long.

Does anyone travel their 16.3 in a CL - he is long but not wide but does have a high head carriage. I thought I was limited to IW510/511 but really like the CL if it would work....

I haven't got photos but maybe my research is useful to you. I looked at changing to the Cheval Liberte because I tow with Defender 90 and there's not that much space for my stuff so I wanted the tack room.
It's bigger than the 505/6 but not as big as the 510/11.

The Cheval Liberte stall dimensions are: (L) 1930mm x (W) 830mm x (H) 2265mm
The 511 stall dimensions are: (L) 2050mm x (W) 890mm x (H) 2260mm
The 506 stall dimensions (for comparison) are: (L) 1860mm x (W) 830mm x (H) 2260mm

There's not a huge difference but I decided it was probably that little bit too small for Charlie (17hh) whom I've since sold. The irony is it would probably be ok for my new boy Wiggy (16.2).

You get 12cm extra length and and 6cm extra width per stall in the 511. The height is actually slightly more in the Cheval. Charlie was a long horse so I felt I needed the extra 12cm, Wiggy is a lot more compact and I have the breaching bar further forward. He's not much smaller but that little bit of difference is enough!

Thank you so much for that info. I don't think I'm worried about it being slightly narrower but length may be an issue. Going to the yard with my tape measure shortly :) Interesting that the headroom is actually more than IW. Reviews are so good on the CL and the prices are good too.

A livery had one and travelled her 16.3/17hh horse in it happily. He as a very laid back so that may have helped. A current livery travels her 16.2by and still growing horse in one again seemingly without issues.

Eta both kept the partition in.

I looked at them but discounted them as I thought my claustrophobic one would struggle coming out past the tack room and the youngster barely fitted in the equivalent size of the 505. So interesting that bigger horses do fit!

I had one of these and honestly it was really tight on space

My horse was 15.1 and it was fine for her but travelled a couple of 16 handers in it and they looked a bit crammed in .. the head height isn’t all that generous

U had to sell my CL touring country with tack room as it just wasn't big enough for my 16.3hh/17hh gelding, he wears a 6'9" rug and has a long neck and high head carriage.
It was just too cramped for him.
I did buy bread bars so I could take the partition out but that didn't work for him either unfortunately.

Gutted as I loved that trailer but it just didn't work for us.

IU do have a pair of full length bars for sale as the new owner didn't want them.

Thank you. I'm thinking that I should go with the IW 510/511 for now and apparently CL is bringing out a larger trailer at some point and I could revisit then. My boy is in 6'6 rugs but still not worth the risk I don't think

I don't know if Cheval still make larger trailers, but the older 2003XL model is larger - I can't remember the specifications, but when I was looking they were equivalent to an Ifor 510 and I've travelled a 16.3 ISH who wore 7" rugs in mine.
