Looks very very young. Would probably want to turn him away to continue growing before doing anything with him.

Ditto! VERY young

Personally, I don't think it's a great picture and from what I see, I don't like him much. I certainly wouldn't be spending £4,500 on him! But I am completely out of touch with what horses sell for these days, so he may well be priced reasonably for all I know!

ETA: Agree with the comments above too - his 2 front legs seem to come out of the same hole at the moment!! Looks like he needs to grow into them too.

I thought that too, he needs to grow up a lot.
He doest look anymore filled out than my yearling. Obviously taller!

Is his price not a bit steep considering his age and he hasn't done anything?

Very overpriced. He will be a lovely horse though, I do like the look of him, but he has done no filling out and obviously has alot of growing to do. Get off the poor thing and chuck it in a field for a year..
If it were mine I wouldn't of even backed it yet..

out on a limb here but I actually quite like him!!

Totally agree needs time to grow, I'd be looking at some lunging and poss very light hacking through the rest of the summer, if that, and turn away for the winter to start properly in the spring. Also looks fractionally underweight regardless of age, but may just be camera angle.

I think by next spring he'll be a cracking chap, but at that price he ought to have some bloody good lineage given that you can't really do much with it for a while, also I'd be trying to assess how mature he is, if he's a real baby then he may be slightly complicated by early backing, if he's quite mature I shouldn't think it'll cause problems. Quite a few people will back a bigger horse early then turn it away so as to avoid arguaments with it at it's full maturity strength. I think you have to look at a horses physical and mental maturity to decide when to back.

Standing martingales are some people's preference, if you like him, try him, but I'd be looking for something to justify that price tag, having said that, he is a baby and he will mature physically, i do quite like the look of him.
