Ime assuming the photo was previous to the problem which is making it a broodmare - but... it still makes you wonder?

I often wonder where the line is drawn at a retired horse becoming a brood mare ie will the injury be up to carrying a foal, will the issue be hereditary? etc

hmm.. i'm wondering why there seems to be a lack of details, no comments on anything about caring for her, if she's been covered before etc.. still, lovely looking horse though!

I'm sure the photo was taken before an accident or something that has meant the mare can't be ridden - but I think, even if you do say in the text of the advert that she is only suitable to be a broodmare, it is a bit misleading to have a ridden picture. If the mare is not to be ridden, then I would have thought a picture with her stood up nicely would have been much more appropriate.

When I clicked on the ad I was expecting a competition horse - it is a nice picture, and a good looking horse.

If she has a good comp record, then fine - but a ridden picture doesn't illustrate this - and a brief comp record could have been outlined in the ad itself.

I think the line for determining whether the mare is fit to be used as a broodmare is something for a buyer to be aware of certainly - I don't think I would want to sell a horse of mine retired through injury as a broodmare - as you can 99% guarantee that someone somewhere would try riding it again. But I guess, as a seller, that is personal opinion?

i clicked on it expected info on either a dressage/comp horse.

One of the first things I look at is price (just window shopping for me, so I like to compare) and then I read the advert and was shocked and taken back at the fact that it was a short statement basically saying: cant be ridden so a broodmare................
as you say, why have a ridden pic? surely an inhand pic showing confo etc would have been more appropriate. Also at such a young age what injury has she incured to make her unridable?!

I never get why people breed from injured horses in the first place (but thats just my opinon) but I am guessing its something severe for it to be this cheap....... so again... why breed from her?! why not just say as a companion..

My first thoughts are must be a bad injury as in never be ridden again but who knows, maybe they just want to get rid quick.
