Hi all, the most amazing bargain of a saddle has come up, its a dressage saddle and its brown my horse only suits brown and I have been looking for sooo long for some thing I can afford, right so its the right d to d measurement but I ride in a 17" and I'm 5ft8 slim build and my question is would 18" be too big or am I being silly, my horse is long enough to handle, the reason I'm not rushing to try it is that darn courior service, I don't mind trying the saddle if I know I can fit in it before I see if my horse will fit it too... Thank you.. Don't be afaid to say I'm being silly... Also I wrote this on my phone so if it makes no sense I apologise!

Just try the saddle...if 18" isn't too big for your horse then it's just down to the way you feel on it.
If you can't return it then sell it yourself?
I can't see how an extra inch will make that much difference but I'm no saddle expert.

Jealous you can ride in a 17" saddle! I am 5ft9 and slim build and 17" just feel way to small and usually makes me tip forward. You might find the extra leg room to your liking. I would ask if you could try before you buy. good luck

Personally i think you will find it too big at your size/height.

What make of saddle is it as some seem smaller than others for the rider?

Im 5'4" and again slim but I feel more than at home in my 18" worker saddle. I ride work in a 19" exercise saddle and equally drop down to my shetland pads.

If your horse can take the extra inch I would try it, you never kmow if it will suit or not otherwise.
