Just about to fire up the BBQ for the 1st time this year. Cumberland sausages and Aberdeen Angus beef burgers.

Taking Charlie to Cannock Chase tomorrow, weather allowing, as we have the "Northern Counties Pony association Show" on at my yard. It will be several hundred kids and ponies...

have a nice BBQ tonight, think you'll have to stay at home tomorrow - have you seen the forecast

that's why came to Eland today instead of tomorrow.

The BBQ was excellent and I have just finished the last sausage, rocket salad and mayo cob *burp*

I have seen the forecast and am keeping my fingers, legs and several other things crossed. I baled on a trip to Cannock at Easter when the forecast promised bad weather, but it turned out to be b0ll0cks!

Recently I have found the most accurate local forecasts on www.metcheck.com using the appropriate post code - hope you have a good day!

Thanks. Metcheck is saying light rain and the BBC says heavy rain. Either way, we are going to get wet...

Similair where I am, so I will chance it. A little light drizzle is not too bad, and Charlie goes better in the rain anyway as he concentrates on keeping his face dry, so stops arguing with me and rounds out!

I'm glad you understand my early morning spellings

Just be careful if you are going as friend went yesterday and got stuck in a bog as the ground is that saturated already. Always had it drummed into me from an early age that when riding over the Chase you stick to the track at all times!

good point! was surprised Eland was so dry yesterday as we parked on the field and it was fine - had visions of being dragged out by a tractor which is so not nice

weather not as bad as forecast

hope you had a good time and didn't get too wet

are you doing the HT on the 11th?

We got lightly sprinkled on at Cannock, but soaked when we got back to Eland. As it was so warm and sunny when we got back, and because his lightweight turnout was still hanging up in the garage, I turned him out without a rug on. So, the heavens opened as I was cleaning out the lorry.

I want to do that HT, but I am not sure he is ready yet. We are still working through some fundamental issues concerning his behaviour jumping. I don't fancy charging about without brakes! Are you doing it?

yes having a go at the mini one again and have jumped all bar the horrible last fence which is becoming a bogey fence for me
crazy.gif

What bit have you got him in? Got Pidge in a copper roller snaffle and have a lot more brakes in that, though not 100%

The Pistol Log? I don't want to worry you, but Ernie was building a new fence today which looked Mini size...

Myler short shank combination. The bit is not the problem as when he goes, he could have a bit made from barbed wire and wired to the National Grid, but it would stillnot stop him.

don't know what it's called but it's a raised log with shrubs behind it, right at the end of the course!
Ooh if he was building it near the end does that mean that the new fence will be the last one then? Oh I do hope so
crazy.gif

Ah yes I know that feeling well
tongue.gif
have you tried a hackamore?

That's the Pistol Log which is still in. New fence is wall and will probably go before the Brick Kiln. Pig arcs gone too. Not tried a Hackamore. Stiicking with current for now as trying to school him out of misbehaving.

a wall in the mini course, can you take a sledgehammer to it? Oh bummer the pistol log is still in
frown.gif

good luck with the schooling

Just had a follow up saddle check and my GP still does not fit, so I am definitely not doing the HT trial now!
