I'm doing my first ever BE next weekend at the grand old age of 35 and on my trusted share horse who is doing his first too at 17, after 5 years together. Nothing like starting early! It's only an 80 but I'm getting excited/nervous/terrified all at the same time. I've been pondering the whole thing after a glass or two of fizz (not sure that's the best idea) and it's just struck me that in all the smaller classes I've watched in the run up to this, competitors have all worn tweed. I only have a navy jacket. I checked the rules which allow black or dark blue but will I look horrendously out of place in my navy? Watching a few on eBay just in case!

Well done for entering! :)

It's technically more correct to wear tweed until you get to intermediate, but lots of people wear navy and you won't look out of place.
Just please don't wear white breeches with it! :D

Good luck!

Your navy jacket will be fine, tweed was correct but the rules have changed as so many people were wearing navy, if you have cream jods they will look better than white.
Enjoy the day, the 80s are fairly low key and the trainers are there to help.
