In the run up to my ode, thought i would take my new girly to a couple of shows etc.

Registered her for BSJA as that is what she has done previously ( I haven't as you will be able to tell later on in this post)

What a day, thought i would go to Southview EC, nice place and it was first outdoors.

Got there and my class was third and they were still on jump off of first (great i thought - plenty of time)

Four hours later (i had got on two hours earlier to walk round and give her a general view of what was going on) and my class had still not run.

I fell off in the practice arena, because she tends to jump out of her skin to begin with (v embarassed and bruised

)

Eventually got into ring and each fence we came to our hearts just weren't in it anymore (so got eliminated

)

It was such a shame, shes only a baby, but the really positive thing out of all this was that she was very good in the practice arena, didn't nap in the sj arena and was very quiet to travel - even though we were eliminated i am really pleased with how sensible and good she was (yeh for her)

But i had no idea that BSJA comps are soooo looonnggg.....is this the case with all of them, because it was a week day thought there may be less people ( how wrong could i be )

Thats why i event, theres always a time given!!!!

Anyway off for a warm Radox bath and horsey is very tired so gave her a lovely deep bed and lots of pats and food before i went home, she knows she was good really!!

sorry to hear that you came off. At least you`re not hurt. I sometimes go to Weston Lawns and it is manic there too. 70 in the smaller classes sometimes. Then I went to Hargates today, more local, and they almost cancelled as there was only 8 to go in the BN, but waited for about 20 minutes and then there was 12 of us in it. Some venues are just very busy. I usually go in the week because of this also as it is manic at the weekends usually. Don`t let it put you off tho.

Bad luck, next time phone up before you leave so tht you know what class they are on, give you an idea what time to get there.

So how much money has your horse won and what classes are you jumping?

Dont worry too much about being eliminated. I recently bought my mare and although she's jumped up to fox quite happily, we have some disasters at Disco recently.

It takes time to get used to a new horse...just keep at it.

Some places can get REALLY busy, Addington near me regularly has 100 in the smaller classes, which is jusy insane. I tend to ring up before hand, or go to the places i know that are quiet.

Good luck! Let us know how you go...
