Hi all,

Not really a very interesting post Im afraid but just wanted to shout from the roof tops that we (well my sis) rode Oscar after being out of work since October last year!!!!!

For those of you that dont know the story he tore his cruciat ligament and had surgery to help fix it, then 3 months box rest followed by lots of slow rehabilitation to get him to this point.

However a few weeks ago my vet came out for his booster injections and did a flexion test

which was quite severe at the stage of his rehabilitation and he was hopping lame

I thought the worse and vet told me to go back to Newmarket to get him checked out (me assuming we would never ride again).

Anyhoo, to cut a fairly long story a bit short Newmarket were pleased with his progress and didnt seem too worried about a flexion test because they re-assessed him, scanned, x-rayed etc and were very happy. They said he could have been having an off day.

So, after a few weeks of building up his walking on the long rein we finally got on last night and walked round the school for 20mins.

I have been through similar experiences myself with horses out of work. So I know how thrilled you must be. Fantastic!!

Oh it's a different thing - My horse had sacroiliac strain and had a year off. He also was diagnosed with a spavin and had time off from that. (He's over it all now, has been for some yrs!!). Also I broke my back in a riding accident 05 so had 6 months off then....!!! I hope our luck will improve!!
Sounds like you have been through the mill. Good for you supporting your horse and now reaping the benefits.

O blimey, sounds like u have had your own share of bad luck too - heres hoping we both find lots of success in our future time with our, now fix, neddys!!
