Apologies for blatantly self-indulgent post, but I am SO pleased with Lexi I couldn't contain it!!

Took her for her 1st go at BSJA yesterday (Keysoe). Deliberately chose a mid-week one so it would be quiet (she gets very stressed in a busy collecting ring). We didn't tell anyone we were going in case it was a disaster.

Lexi events at PN, but as it was our 1st BSJA we decided to play it safe and go for the BN and the Disco. Turned out to be a good decision - the fences look HUGE indoors (especially the oxers in the Disco!!). There was also a dreaded treble in all the classes (she sometimes has problems as she is short striding and can tend to get herself in a mess by the third part).

Anyway, she hasn't done a clear round for ages so we weren't expecting too much.

BN - she was clar round the first phase so we decided to go for it. She is such a star!! So much neater and more balanced now, absolutely flew round the turns and ended up double clear with a good time and won the class!! Can't believe it - our 1st BSJA class and we are £40 richer!!

Took her back in the Disco (which looked huge). She did a lovely round except one of us (probably me) had a bit of a wobble about 2 strides out of a big oxer. She tried to chip in a half stride and knocked it down. Other than that she went like a dream and finished on 4 faults.

So I think I could quite get into the BSJA thing (in the dark winter months when there is no eventing) - roll on the next one!!

Well done! What a great start!

PMSL Rambo you wont have any problems with me! Im hopeless at SJing it seems lol

Yes, a treble, upright, one stride, upright, two strides, massive oxer.

Put the wind up us a bit!! BE don't include trebles until Novice!

It was a kind one though with the two uprights at the start and was on the final line toward home.

Thanks, I am very pleased with her!!

Don't think we are in danger of winning too much (she is very quick but usually knocks one down). What is the limit for BN anyway?

Is there a second round that we can qualify for? Is that what the 4 DC thing is about? Are those jumps bigger?

The plan is to stick at BN / Disco until we are a bit more confident and then move up to Disco / Newcomers ready to go up to BE Novice next year sometime.

Limit for BN is £100 Notional. Four DC's will qualify you for the 2nd Rounds which I think will start at 1m in the 1st round

Thanks - not much danger of us passing the £100 mark I suspect (although I would be VERY happy if she did).

2nd rounds would be exciting, might have to stick at BN until we get those!

Hypothetical question - if we got £40 for winning yesterday, that means it would be possible to get over the £100 mark with only 3 outings - how does that work if you need 4 DCs to go to the next round?

No. The £40 you won is 'Actual Winnings', the 'Notional Winnings' for a 1st in a BN is about £15 or £20 I think (never won one before so don't know

). I know it's £20 for a 1st place in a Disco though, so guessing it's the same or a bit lower.

Remember Notional is what you go by for entering classes

Wow go you and Lexi!!!

Eventers have to amuse themselves somehow in the winter and if you can earn some money in the proces, good on you

What a successful first outing. I think here anyway the SJAI courses may be the same height as EI, but much more technical, so well done esp for the treble!!
I hate SJ with a passion. All the rescue remedy in the world will not get me through half an hour waiting for my turn to jump.

BTW I have a friend who Intro/PN this season and who did a 1.10 at the weekend with only 1 rolled pole. Scary stuff.
