Apologies for blatantly self-indulgent post, but I am SO pleased with Lexi I couldn't contain it!!
Took her for her 1st go at BSJA yesterday (Keysoe). Deliberately chose a mid-week one so it would be quiet (she gets very stressed in a busy collecting ring). We didn't tell anyone we were going in case it was a disaster.
Lexi events at PN, but as it was our 1st BSJA we decided to play it safe and go for the BN and the Disco. Turned out to be a good decision - the fences look HUGE indoors (especially the oxers in the Disco!!). There was also a dreaded treble in all the classes (she sometimes has problems as she is short striding and can tend to get herself in a mess by the third part).
Anyway, she hasn't done a clear round for ages so we weren't expecting too much.
BN - she was clar round the first phase so we decided to go for it. She is such a star!! So much neater and more balanced now, absolutely flew round the turns and ended up double clear with a good time and won the class!! Can't believe it - our 1st BSJA class and we are £40 richer!!
Took her back in the Disco (which looked huge). She did a lovely round except one of us (probably me) had a bit of a wobble about 2 strides out of a big oxer. She tried to chip in a half stride and knocked it down. Other than that she went like a dream and finished on 4 faults.
So I think I could quite get into the BSJA thing (in the dark winter months when there is no eventing) - roll on the next one!!
