I have just watched the most brilliant horse race, it was a cross country steeplechase and was a bit like the Pardabucie (sp) It had hedges, rails, ditches, banks, water everything. And then the horse that won - Spot the difference a 14YO, slipped after the finish line and didn't get up, the screens went up but luckily he was OK.

Did anyone else watch it? Its still on C4 now.

I love watching that race.
Glad to hear the winner is okay

nice to see a 14 year doing so well.

Spot The Difference is such a machine isn't he? I had tears rolling when he won, such a heart he has! Have to say I thought it was JT's fault he fell, he wasn't paying attention, too busy getting congratulations to pay attention to the star of the race and almost ran him into the fence. Lucky the old horse was just winded.

Blimey.
What was it called?
Ive seen the race a couple of times, always by mistake lol but thoroughly enjoy it. Love NH racing but thats far more exciting IMO

Agree, but they had no space to stop at all after the finish and he's looking the other way high fiving. I had a lump when they led him back. I can't believe 3 of the horses took the wrong course as well

I've actually jumped a couple of the eventing style jumps in that race (sneakily at Cheltenham show which is held in the middle of the racecourse!). When they first designed that course they had to change it alot as a couple of horses died from hitting the more solid fences. I think it is much more racehorse friendly now. Usually at this meeting they use that course a couple of times so keep watching and you might see another race over it, I haven't seen the race card this time but they nearly always have a race on the Sunday as that is more of a fun family day.

But it's no different to any finish there. The post is never moved so all the jockeys know what to expect and besides, going up that hill, most of them are slowing anyway immediately after the post and there is a lot more room there than it looks on tv so an experienced one like JT should have known better I feel. If I had been the owner I would have tore strips off him but hopefully that fright will have brought it home and he'll never do it again.

Oooh - I ran and watched it on 4+1 when I read your post (thank you). Absolutely brilliant, good old Spot the Difference but Puntal was pretty impressive too to get into 3rd after going the wrong way. I had a little tear in my eye when S the D got up, even though I knew he was going to

Yes, I had bet on one of the ones that went the wrong way. It eventually finished 5th so would have had a good chance if the stupid jockey had got it right. Glad to hear they got a 12 day ban for it!!

spot the difference is a cheltenham legend!!! amazing horse, he just wants to win! my heart was in my mouth when he went down, and thank goodness he got up.
