So you've been curious enough to Open this thread. Most people on here know I have Gray Moutain - a multi winning flat and national hunt horse turned show horse. Most people also know I have Shetlands. I have had plenty of threads about The Wee Coloured Job as he does rather well out showing.

Well here are both of my grey exracers - Riccalton Flint - Shetland Pony Grand National specialist vs Gray Mountain - Gay American Supermodel!

Flint is 28yo now. He has been there, seen it, done it, won it, got the t-shirt 30 million times over! Flint last hit the show ring 6 years ago and came away with Reserve Ridden Champion. I unofficially retired him. Well this weekend his retirement is over! He is coming to play at the local show to do the Lead Rein class! Probably a good job it's on the lead rein ... tacked him up tonight for the first time in 6 years and he bounced along next to me ... So I thought I had better hop on for 2 minutes just to make sure he has had weight on his back before Saturday ... I love this pony 😂😂😂 just the same as ever! I almost got trotted off with and he nearly dropped me 😂😂😂 Don't worry he loves showing and I k ow he will be on his best behaviour at the weekend ... I hope!!!

Very fancy. I especially like gay American supermodel;)
I'm sure Flint will be an angel. He is a Shetland after all. Isn't it what they're known for? ;)

Brilliant picture, I love the contrast between the fuzzy short legs and the long prancy ones.

Good luck at the show - hope you post how it goes.

I am sure I used to race at the same time as Flint was starting to race. It is lovely to see him looking so well. These tough little ones go on forever. Good luck at the show.

That is so cool! Flint is 28yo this year. Although I never got the chance to race him due to foot and mouth in 2001 he did a lot of it before I took him on. He is such a dude!

I will of course update again on Saturday evening as to how the show goes. I know he will be on his bestest behaviour because he is too much of a gentleman not to be! He is out this weekend and next weekend. If he doesn't like it I will officially retire him. If he has his love of showing back I might do a bit of proper veteran stuff with him next year.

I raced from 1995 - 1998 but when I knew him he was very dappled grey! He was a speedy devil then. The photo of him really made me smile so thank you.

So Mr Flint has had a wonderful day out! His showing manners went totally out of the window! He jogged instead of walked and catered bits instead of trotting in his inhand class and still managed to come 5th out of 9! I could do nothing for laughing! Bless him! He was having a whale of a time!!!

He doesn't do rosettes on bridles near his ears! Never has, never will! Somethings never change!

Then came the lead rein class ... Flint has never been much of a lead rein pony he has always been a goey open pony. But given that he is 28yo i thought I'd be nice and do the easy class. BIG mistake! He got his saddle on, his borrowed rider met for the first time 20mins before the class and he turned into a rocket ... So we went for a practice and he walked out rather fast but ok on a loose rein next to me. But i had to hold on tight for the trot! But that's ok we can cope with that.

Into the ring nickering and neighing - which he didn't do inhand. Walked out far too fast, started to jog so I had to grab a tight hold even in walk! Then came the trot ... off like a rocket with me practically digging my heels in to stop him going any faster! Pulled in 4th of 5. Deservedly so!

Out for the indivual. Again me hanging onto the lead rein for dear life! Walk away, trot back, trot left rein, trot right, break into canter, come back and finish off with me hauling his big white ass back to a stop. Kid giggling her wee head off! Off for a walk round. Nicky get pulled in first and very deservedly so. Then we got pulled 2nd!!!! I am a far bit shocked, amused and feel slightly guilty as he really didn't deserve it as a lead rein pony! But he was loving life!

The Granny Suit hasn't been out in a few years either!

I might just bale on doing the lead rein next weekend and see if I can swop it to the Open Ridden 😂😂😂😂😂

Bless him I love this pony so much and he still has such a zest for life!

He sounds like such a superb character! Hope both he and his little jockey enjoyed themselves!

So Flint redeemed himself today and didn't put a hoof out of line! He stood 2nd in the Veterans, 3rd in the geldings and then 2nd in the Lead Rein being foot perfect and then going on to be Reserve Ridden Champion!

Flint filled the reserve ridden champion position on his last show 6 years ago! He has never once been out of the championship places at this show every year he has attended in the last 17 years that I have had him. Mr Consistant or what!

The Wee Coloured Job came out to party as well and won his stallion class!
