2 horses free to a home....

Yesterday being a kind owner, I popped them out on the paddocks which I'd been saving for the Autumn grass growth. They are separate but can see each other. They would have had a full day on grass and tummy's should be feeling full. I pitch up to get them in, feed, dress over etc etc. Whilst making the feeds I heard a bit of shouting. Nothing unusual for the filly as her tummy rules her head. Then I was having to listen to her screaming like a distressed pig and charging up and down like a lunatic. This in turn set off the other horse who isn't a ballerina on his feet. He likes to go super fast and pull the biggest of skids. A bit like the boys trying to impress when I was at prep school..... So we had a good bit of rain yesterday and now my paddocks looks horrendous. I lost the love, got ear ache and had two sweaty wound up horses to chill. My poor paddocks!!
Juno which one do you want?? The screaming distressed pig (supposed to be a Princess) or the boy with the big skids?!!

Please may I have the boy with the big skid? I have 2 with big skids and they could have a skid off competition...

I find I can't give mine away til I through in a free headcollar. Then I have takers! But I see you are offering tack and grass! Its a bargain!

Sorry about your paddocks! ha ha

I half hoped that by offering feed, stables, paddocks, tack, rugs and the horses etc I'd get a couple of takers.

You may have the boy with the big skids! He is mighty good but prefers it when he can get his heels and toe in a little bit more. He finishes the display with huge double barrelled kicks and a bloody great grin on his chops..... He'll have fun having skid off's with your two!

Tricky question. Perhaps a 3 year trial period with each before I decide  although I do like big skids (except just before a jump)

A 3 year trial period is just fine! Maybe return in the Spring of the 3rd year so I miss that winter.... :)

Max is good at the big skids before a jump unless he's decided that he wants to jump. Far too much intelligence for that malarky. He used to pull himself up when he ran over hurdles and then went pointing. Clever sod! These days his skids are kept to the paddocks. If he was human he'd bowl the girls over in the playground!!

Max sounds perfect with his double barrelled finish. Can I collect him later ... as this massive wind makes for perfect conditions.... although I'm sure you'd deliver as part of the deal?

Can he also do vertical take-offs from stand still - much like a lamb? They did a synchronized vertical take off yesterday and got top marks. One of mine also does vertical take-offs and manages to turn mid-air and and land facing the other way. If I didn't know he was a TB I'd think he might have some lipizzaner (spelling?!) in him.

I am more than happy to deliver and I will happily leave you the lorry as well. I am assuming you are going to be on the other side of the country if not abroad!!

Yes the vertical take offs are another fetish of his. Max is also a TB so they can have vertical take off and skid off's! When he's feeling very fresh these episodes are highlighted with a lot of squealing. Which is a much nicer sound than the destressed pig noise that the filly makes!

Im loving this thread, certainly put a smile on my sad face :D i have two mares Loopy Lily and Extravagant Escada, both are fantastic at big skids and Loopy Lily even throws in the odd fly buck, very impressive :D

Don't be sad. It's horrible outside but we all have a lot to be thankful for :)

There seem to be a lot more serial skidders out there than just mine. I just cringe when I see the turf being uprooted..... Are your two TB's as well?

I cannot understand why the very fast distressed pig screaming filly isn't high on everyones list to have.... I did post yesterday saying how proud of her I was - in a bid for her to be off to pastures new today :D :D

ohhh i have a 17hh lump that likes to do emergency stops in every corner, if i could get her to skid in a straight line she could win a ploughing contest:rolleyes: I've offered to loan her to the farmer for ploughing but even he doesn't want her;)
i like the way my daughters dappy pony comes to a halt from flat out, he locks his legs and bounces and judders to a stop , looks like a runaway pneumatic drill!!:D

Only sad because of politics on my yard! But yes we do have a lot to be happy about :D Escada is TB x BWP and Lily is BWP so Escada can be excused however Lily, well there is nooooo excuse there - mind you she certainly does like doing ballet and looks pretty with it, however she doesnt squeel like a pig its more like a rhino shreaking in pain ha ha :D

You've just had me in hysterics!!! Hilarious analogies..... :D :D

I'd like the patchy looking effort that squeals like a pig, will go nicely with our new one, the pony with the head of a draught horse, he squeals like a particularly distressed girl piggy when approached by another horse! They can create beautiful concertos together!! She can be beauty to his beast!

I would love you to send me a cd of the beautiful concerto's which they will make together! I cannot think of what a wonderful sound it will be!! The patchy looking effort does range from Soprano to Bass Baritone in her distressed pig noise scream. I think I will buy an iPod now and then I can listen to them on repeat.....

You will just be pleased that she is not your teenage daughter. She isn't worried about looks, as long as they smell manly she's all there. Also isn't shy at role reversal.... Max (gelding) has mounted her and then the patchy looking effort several days later was on top of Max. Don't ask but if she was a child and I was her mother I would be TERRIFIED!!!!!!

Great! I'll go and roll my paddock and sort out all the divots so its a completely lovely surface ready for the arrival of Max. Phooey the TB does squeal too - quite often when you are riding him, its starts off quite small and then builds - so you get a lovely sense of impending DOOM. T'other one is a warmblood that thinks he's a TB - he does get up quite a speed and cause he's heavier does make a deeper skid, but often doesn't get quite as far in distance. They are busy putting up bunting in anticipation of more high jinx than necessary for when Max arrives.

I'm sensing we should have pictures of skid marks! ha ha ha - the field ones... not the ones caused from trying to ride the squealing TBs - urghhh!

Phooey also likes pigs - so I could rehome your mare if absolutely necessary?

Loving this thread!

I think Max will be in his element!! Maybe a little watering would be good for perfect turf tearing skids! I will take some photographs this evening, I do not know how to upload them which is a little sad! Max also squeals when you ride him. I find it hilarious and with my laughing and his squealing it's a little messy. He does it when he sees little ponies out hunting, especially the white variety. They are fair game in his book! He then takes off doing almighty leaps with squeals until he has hunted the fair game. I wouldn't dare take him out to the children's meet!!

As Phooey likes pigs - I'll pop the moo cow type looking beastie into the equation as well. OK - I have said pig quite a few times but maybe an enraged Warthog being attacked by a lion would be a better description. It is the weirdest noise and more shrieking than squealing! She's supposed to be my Princess......

Actually... maybe I could deliver my two to you? In fact, yes, this seems like the best solution! Phew! Phooey loves it when you laugh at his antics, so you'd be perfect for him.

I too would like to offer a bid for Max - he can join my Tb and Wb, who together, the day before I went on holiay, decided to have THE BIG SKIDDING COMPETITION... which not only turned the lovely green, flat paddock in to a well ploughed field, but also managed to get tangled up in the electric tape, and snapped SIXTY FIVE thick wooden posts....

Oh how proud and pleased I was the night before my holiday, it was like a work of art....so if Max would like to come and join the fun, we are banging the posts in again this weekend, ready for the semi finals of the BIG SKIDDING COMPETITION!!!!

Hmm are you back tracking on taking my two now??  So much for thinking I was going to have a mudless winter without wind burn to my face, chilblains on my legs and toes..... Now I am going to have 4 to deal with...... I'd best re advertise my pair pretty sharpish!! :)

At least I am very honest with their comic actions!!! :D

I have just been laughing at my computer screen!! Max would love to join in with the pole uprooting semi final!! Sounds just like something up his street. I rather not watch these competitions as I can get a little hot under the collar when the serious skids are put into place. I really feel for you having to knock 65 posts back in..... Very unthoughtful of TB and WB to do this the night before your holiday. I sometimes wonder why they do not just think a little more :D:D

Oh no, I'm really looking forward to banging posts in, after all, what else would one do with their weekend??!! I'm grateful to the horses for giving me something to do, otherwise, you know, I might of had a lay in or something, gone to the hairdressers, god forbid GONE SHOPPING!!! But, phew, it's fine, I shall be knee deep in mud, covered in muck with callouses the size of a labourer's on my hands, chipped nails, a wind swept 'do and nice sweaty rosey cheeks......GLAM!!

Possibly too honest? Anyhow, I remembered winter was coming, had it been spring, of course I'd have taken them off your hands. Clearly other takers are coming forward though. Maybe we could re-home all four of them as a job lot.
