Two Female Cocker Spaniel bitches aged 12 months have gone missing whilst out on a walk in Messuage Lane, Marton, near Macclesfield, Cheshire. This happened on Tuesday, 22nd April and their owners are terribly worried that nobody seems to have seen them.

One is Chocolate and the other Tricoloured. Very friendly - too ruddy friendly, they would have got into a vehicle if invited in.

Can everyone local to the area keep a watchout for them please? Any new dogs in the neighbourhood? Fortunately both are microchipped. Many thanks for help on this, I am a great believer in the power of NETWORKING!!

I'm not in the area, but just thought I'd see if you've got this on facebook - I see and share a lot of the local lost dog facebook posts, and it does seem to result in a large audience. I'm sure you already do, but if you haven't, worth a go.

I really hope they turn up, worrying about something similar happening to my two does give me the shivers at 3am sometimes. Although my big lad would run
home sharpish if anyone attempted to interact with him on any level without owner supervision.

So sorry to hear about your dogs missing. Have you had any news? 7 days is not long to try to find them. My dog went missing on a walk too, that was long time ago and I still remember how devostating that was . I did get him back 3 weeks later so don't give up.

All the best x

Just been told that the dogs were shot by a farmer at Swettenham on the day they disappeared, for killing 2 chickens. He has received a Police Caution for failing to report the fact. The police recovered the bodies and so at least my friends have closure. Awful as it is - they do know the outcome of it all, my heart goes out to everyone who has lost pets and who never ever hear of them again.

I run a tiny welfare outfit and if anyone reports seeing a dead cat, I turn out and recover the remains to scan for a chip. I just feel it is so important for people to know the end of their animals, even though the news is not what they want.

Thank you to you all for your input. Keep safe and keep your pets safe!

So sorry to hear that. This is just too terrible for words. How did the police found out about it if he failed to report it. In any case how did the dogs got to his chickens? If you are farmer you must have them protected against foxes and if you do no dog could get them?

That is very sad.
Magdalena, it is not law to secure your chickens against foxes. Although I wouldn't shoot a dog that was killing my hens I can understand people doing so. Not that that helps the OPs friends and I am sure they are devastated.

I wouldnt shoot a dog for killing chickens I think that is a bit OTT, I would for killing sheep obviously, at least the owners have closure otherwise it would have been awful not knowing whose hands they fell into.

I know it is not law to secure your chickens against foxes but not securing them farmers would not have any chance of keeping them alive. I had 6 ft fence around my chickens and foxes got them twice and I am not a farmer. These two young domestic little dogs killing chickens does not make sense. I would demand some answers from the farmer if I were the owner of these dogs.

According to other web sites these dogs only chased the chickens. If two young small dogs wearing collars can be shot for that in UK then I am speechless. This would not be a closure for me if they were my dogs. Law is one thing but mindless killing that is something else.
