;) I know there are a few hoof pic lovers on here so this is Doodle 8 weeks shoeless after 20 years in shoes.

I *think* her wonkiness to the inside might be improving? Not the best pictures, need to get my angle more consistant, but I really think her 'bad' leg (near fore) is getting better?

Love this picture as look at the weirdness of the inside heel of her near fore in the background :D

Need to take some picture more of the inside heel I think as thats where all the interesting stuff is happening :D. We've had a boot change, couldn't stop the fusions rubbing and as her feet have definitely changed shape moved onto the Easyboot Epics, though can't see them lasting for long before I need to go down another size...

Struggling with stones at the moment, she's a little more footsore than she was, not sure if it is spring grass coming through, the ground drying up, a stage she's going through, or a change in diet I've done. Though as the diet change was after the increased in footie'ness think I'll will wait and see how she's doing before making any more changes.

She's still sound on the smooth and in boots :D, though still only on hacking duties no idea if she will be sound on a circle in the school, though not sure at her age this is 'that' important ;).

They are quite exciting aren't they :) it is certainly going to put a lot less strain on everything else when that new breakover grows down.

Look at those heel bulbs beefing up :)

My only point to note is frogs, not sure if you are giving them any treatment (can't remember and poss said it before) but I do find that even though Franks never get actually thrushy/what most people think is thrushy they are better for a squirt of red horse sole cleanse and a shoving in of some hoof stuff sometimes.

Re the footiness, likely the 8 week typical stage I suspect and yes sorry any boots that fit her now are unlikely to when she is finished.

Re the school work not yet but I don't think a bit does them any harm. I have done quite a bit of in hand work with F over the last couple of years and have now started doing some 'straightness training' some of it is a bit fluffy for me but the concept is sound and good to keep them using their bodies well. I did also find that while he was footy he did get quite tense all over so needed some physio quite regularly.

Yes if nothing else she should feel a lot better for having grown some healthier feet, even if we ever did put shoes back on (though currently not convinced it will be needed).

I can't believe how quickly her heels have responded , she looks so much more chunky and stronger!

Yes I was treating them and the whiteline, but stopped when they looked better, as I was using hydrogen peroxide which is pretty strong stuff (even diluted). They look healthier and her 'bad' foot's frog has had much more pronounced growth outwards, but some on-going treatment is a good idea which have a look at the red horse products.

Yes reading up I've tried not to be too concerned with the increase in sensivity so will hang fire and hope she improves, our yard is rubbish as it's uneven with lots of sharp stones but she's managing ok to get to the field.

She's a bit of a diva and after years of showing thinks she knows everything in the school :D, funny now that I do dressage with the other one as she will pop herself in an 'outline' and off the ponces, she does not take orders in the school :D. In-hand work however may be the answer, we've never done much so she can't think she knows better there can she :D, plus it should be nice and low stress for her little old lady legs! Physio was ok with her a couple of weeks ago but obviously she has been more footy since, will give her a message.

xx

I like the RH products as I think they are pretty gentle but effective.

At home where I transitioned F we had a base of concrete for the stables and then hardcore with grass growing through it which was a bit problematic for him. We had a fab driveway though for trotting/walking up as it had smoother and rougher bits to test with.

Re the physio side of things it is just worth keeping on top of it so probably no rush but just to keep in mind they can start moving a bit tense all over.

Gentle and effective sounds good to me. Would love better ground for her as it's not fun at this stage tip-toeing across the yard :(, we do have to move so it will probably add to my ridiculous list of things I want from a new yard, yes I may end up yardless :D think I need to learnt o comprimise :D.

Good point, will get our massage pad on her not that it is the same but might help relax her muscles a bit. Happy with her progress, just would like her to be a little more comfy on the stones...
