I've known a few 2yr olds and they have all been very babyish personality wise. i think even at 3/4 you can clearly tell they're youngsters a mile off in most cases, they're still usually a bit babyish, especially in warmbloods from what i've seen. So at 2 years old, theyre clearly just babies! I dont watch racing because it upsets me seeing so many babies being worked so hard. And seeing them fall just kills me. (Well, and them half the time.)
Babies should be allowed to be babies. There's plenty you can do to help them mature at a good rate, lots of in hand work and walks and introducing them to new things, a bit each day.
I really dont see any need at all in breaking a horse at 2. IMO theres a lot of things which need to be worked on before breaking and at 2 those things can't have all been done.
