That is appalling
I have owned several ex racehorses over the years and having seen my beloved first one suffer terribly from degenerative joints as a result of his racing as a 2 year old am totally against 2 year olds racing and will not bet on such races as point of principle.
Mine was a May foal and he raced before his 2nd birthday which means he was probably backed at 18 months
. It caused him so many problems he had to be fully retired at 13 and we lost him before he turned 20. My vet told me by his late teens it would always be his legs that let him go his heart and other health he was strong as an ox. He said racing 2 years olds equated to sending little children down the mines.
