20 x 60 arenas to hire Cambs / how to practice ina short arena

Hi All,

Does anyone know of any 20 x 60 arenas for hire in Cambs, as close to Histon as possible?

Am planning Great Witchingham BE90 as my first event this year, but dressage is in a long arena!

As we only have a short arena at home I will need to hire somewhere to practice, only place I can think of so far is Milton but that is 30 x 60 so not ideal.

Also does anyone have any good tips on practicing in a short arena?

break the test down into individual movements, it's very rare that a movement covers the whole arena. If you can ride in a 20x40 then you'll find a 20x60 easy

I think Waresley has a 20x60, so does Fenning farm. Are they too far?

As Thistle says its rare that the test has movements that cover the whole arena, you should be fine.

We have a 30 x 60 at my yard in Girton. The YO may well be happy to hire it. PM me if you want me to try and find out.

Nothing helpful to add, but I use to live in Histon and keep my horse in Girton and then Dry drayton

Just being nosy, but which yards did you keep you horse on? (am looking around for other local yards )

Long drove in somersham has one that they hire out. Its only about half an hour from you if thats not to far?

Sorry, it was nearly 25yrs ago and I haven't got a clue! Was just nice to see Histon mentioned, bought my first house there

The Dry drayton one kept goats - haha. I only remember that as my pony went out with them!

Waresley def has a 20 x 60 and it's grass. Don't know where it us in relation to you though. I have Helens (runs it) number if you want it.

Im in Oakington, and we have a 20 x 60 arena, yard owner will normally rent out, PM me for details if interested.
