I'm a big Frankie Dettori fan and I also followed his father when he won the same race in the 70s (Bolkonski and Wollow I think)

It's lovely that after 40 odd years of trying he finally won the Italian 2000 guineas this week and then followed up yesterday with the Newmarket race.

He looked quite emotional afterwards and they mentioned that his family was there yesterday. It's his last 2000 guineas and I'll really miss his riding when he retires later this year.

They are making such a huge fuss about him retiring. His "Farewell Tour". One this is for certain - he won't disappear into obscurity as soon as he has weighed in from his last ride. ITV and the Racing channels will snap him up.

I watched the 2000 yesterday. O'Brien's horses ran like damp squibs. Very disappointing.

Ask a member of the public to name a jockey and I guess Frankie is the one they would come up with. He is a huge personality and will be much missed.

I was very pleased to see him win the 2000 yesterday, well done. Well done to the horse too, he really tried.

What happened with O'brien? I kept hearing there was blood coming from the horses nostrils but it was just a rumour?
