2009; What have been your highs and lows?

Horsey

High - getting some mid 60's marks at affil dr
Low - diagnosed with spavins in both hocks

Non horsey

High - getting dream job & then getting promoted after 2 weeks, & still having such an incredibly brilliant time 2 months on
Low - bullied in previous job to the point of feeling aboslutely worthless
 
Horsey highs: Getting Shadow out after her check ligament injury and going clear round our first PN.

Non-horsey highs: Seeing Green Day live, they were awesome!

Horsey lows: Shadow putting her foot down a rabbit hole at Shelford in May and is still on box rest with a tiny tear in her DDFT.

Non-horsey lows: Work being a pain in the ass and dropping my salary big time. Least I don't have to have lessons or competition entry fees to worry about!

Resolutions: to make sure S is totally totally better before we even think about leaving the ground again!

*Dani rupturing his ligament in Feb 09
*Bugsy having stopping issues/me losing confidence slightly on him
*having to retire Monty this week from bsja as he is 20.

HIGHS
*jumping first 1m10 bsja course (ever) on Monty
*bringing on Dani to discovery bsja (early 09)
*bringing Dani back to work after ligament rupture (oct 09)
*working through Bugys refusal problems and getting round a course with no refusals

NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS
*Get Dani back to discovery bsja, and try newcomers
*keep Monty fit and sound, maybe do some HT for fun
*Increase Bugsy's confidence with me and get up to discovery bsja, hopefully newcomers
*QUALIFY FOR SCOPE & BLUECHIPS 2010

Highs:
Getting my new horse, J.D., who is an absolute star.
Learning so much from him, and getting a real chance to enjoy competing (and winning rosettes

Going to pony camp, and jumping a 1m showjumping course and cross country.
Just having an amazing time trying bigger showjumping classes, hunter trials, working hunter pony classes, camp, pony club, dressage and loads of other stuff

Lows:
Having to sell my last pony :/

Aims for 2010:
To do well in my first science module for GCSE.
Continue to improve with my riding and to actually get out hunting

Highs:
Getting my confidence back a bit about hacking on Sidney, after he bucked me off a year ago.
Getting 59.2% at unaff prelim - was hoping for a 60%+ but that will have to wait for next year!
After 6 months off, I am back riding and loving it! Have got all my enthusiasm back, and really needed the break.

Lows:
Not being allowed to jump because I am too heavy
Being ill over the summer, and taking a 6 month break from riding

Aims:
To start with, losing 2 stone so I can start jumping again.
Working hard at the schooling and finally cracking the whole outline thing.
To be out competing at Novice by the end of year, and to have done some BD prelims. To have jumped a 2 foot course by the end of the year.

Horsey Highs:
*Shearer jumping his first clear round out at Patchetts, the first clear he has jumped out competing since I bought him 18 months ago.

*Spending two weeks on a pro event yard in the summer with Shearer, I can honestly it was one of the best two weeks of my life, I learnt so so so much and can't wait to go back in 2010 and then hopefully as a WP in 2012!

Horsey Lows:
*Having quite a scary fall from S out hacking in the summer. I only plucked up the courage to take him round the gallops again two weeks ago.

*Realising at Keysoe ODE that I have taken S as far as he is going to go, my dreams are now much much bigger than his, so he his hopefully going to go to a fab home where he can do what he loves most, hunt.

Nonhorsey Highs:
*Making some really fab new friends.

*Getting a 6th form scholarship.

Nonhorsey Lows:
*My friend telling that getting Shearer was a waste of time

Aims for 2010:
Just to get S into a fabulous new home and to find something I can event properly, hopefully a nice schoolmaster that can take me up the grades

Highs have been getting a new job without a bullying manager and getting a lovely new horse who has so much promise (Lacey). Also daughter (rudolph bum) getting 12 GCSEs

Lows are my old dog (Slouch) being PTS in February and finding out that my cat has cancer. Also having to change yard which I first moved to 20 odd yrs ago due to their personal reasons.

Aims are to support rudolph bum and Lacey to do well next year.
 
Horsey highs: Jem coming 10th, 4th, and 1st twice in her first 4 BE events.
Murphy being placed at Chatsworth IN
My 4yo Colin coming 2nd on his first ever outing
Millie being in foal

Non-horsey highs: ummmmm is difficult, I had a good holiday last January does that count??????

Horsey lows: Millie injuring her back and having to have over a year off
Murphy's saddle issues meaning he missed the second half on the event season, and failed to complete 2 intermediate xc's
Colin being a idiot to break in, and still is difficult to hack

Non horsey lows: Chucking my boyfriend of 2 years out on my Birthday after finding out he was trying to hit on my best friend, and took her out on my Bday, and told me he had to work (he had actually been fired!)
Friend being killed in a car accident
My now ex boyfriend sending nasty emails about how he is trying to f**k up my life, hacked onto my FB and deleted all my friends.
Finding out my back pain is down to me having broken my back and damaged my spinal cord, and they don't think they will be able to do anything for it without paralysing me, so will have to live with it
Waking up in hospital after nearly drowning in a bucket of water

Horsey resolutions: Work bl**dy hard to improve my riding and finally compete at a 2*
Try to get some sponsors
For Millie to have a healthy foal
All horses to stay sound

Non-horsey resolutions: Find a man who isnt a t*at
Make enough money so I stop having to ask my parents to bale me out
See my friends more
Enjoy myself, and live each day as if it's my last

So here is to a better 2010 than 2009!!!!!!!!!!

New Years resolution
To have fun on both of my horses - have fun training Buster for P2Ping, Enjoy eventing Song and fingers crossed we get to do a **, and Qualify for the Summer regionals and pet plan areas at Novice &amp; Elem.

Finding that i have a sane and sensible homebred TB (H bomb) and getting out competing him

Selling Fairycakes ex eventer to a really good home (and he has stayed on our yard) and Blue_Eyed_Girls pony to a lovely 11 yrs old who adhores her

Realising FC and B_E_ G are quite nice little riders who are capable of riding Dark Knights (my OH) ex racer and bying her for them to share.

Above mare doing well competing with DK before girls had her!

Horsey Lows

Selling FC horse and B-E-G pony who we had had for 6 yrs

Realising that BE was totally unafordable for DK and FC

Non Horsey Highs

Son being alot healther this year and not being in hospital

N Y Res

This may sound harsh, but I intend to put my close family first and not be so aminable to people who mess my kids about and upset them on a regular basis. The worm is going to turn!!!!!!
 
Highs:

-Moving onto horses.
- Champion showjumper at our local anual show/
- Going BE for the first time (for both Titan and I)
- Getting a new neddy
- Managing to get horse ready for first BSJA show.
- An extra addition to the family (in the form of my sister)

Lows:

-Having my lovely ponio PTS
- 1 ponio being lame for most the year.
- My mother and her partner spliting
- Breaking my finger (very minor)

Aims:

- Be competitive at BE100
- Qualify for something, showjumping wise
- Jumping 1.05m and Newcomers
- Not fluff any of my coursework (that I am doing a year early)

Highs:

Jumped 1.05 course on a jumping clinic at Beaver Hall on Mick.
Jumped double clear at both ODE's I entered coming 2nd on one occasion in unaff Novice class.
Moved up to 90cm sj classes confidently.
Cracked 70% dressage on Mick. My old instuctor said he would never be a 'dressage horse' - 'up yours'. lol
Got placed 3rd and 4th at county show with Shiney (husbands cob)
Winning several dressage competitions on Shiney giving me the confidence I can do it.
Moving up to Novice Dr on Shiney.

Lows

Husband being rushed to hospital in June, resulting in him missing the whole season and having an operation. (fully recovered now)

Falling off at a practice jump at HT and landing on face removing most of my skin!

Aims

Mick - to jump sucessfully over 90cm + tracks
Do well at combined training and ODE's

Shiney - big one here - qualify for HOYs through Search 4 a Star.
Do well at county showing
Get husband back up to speed and take them both BD

Stay healthy and happy.
 
Highs
-Getting a DC in our first intro
-Being picked for PC teams on 2 occasions (its a big thing for me

-Finn jumping a 1m course clear in a lesson even though I was riding like a demented sea lion and his bit was cutting his mouth

- Riding a completly strange horse at camp (when I'm used to a very pony-ish pony)after about 4 rides to get to know him beforehand and having a really good time

Lows
- Finn getting laminitis the week before the summer hols
- 3 weeks after I started riding him again Finn went down in the school (my fault) and I broke my collar bone

Aims

-To enjoy Finn even though I'm pony squishing.
-To get As and A*s in my GCSEs
 
Horsey Highs:
* Having a fab time and learning a lot in the USA and being trusted to run the yard (barn!) and ride lots of people's horses.
*Getting my horse back from his loan home.
*Finally finding a superb dressage trainer (shameless plug http://www.dovecote-stables.co.uk ) and enjoying how nice my horse is to flat school/ride.

Horsey Lows:
* Spending a lot of time, money and effort fixing the ulcers and associated problems.
*Only managing 1 BE event (see above) which was dismal (see above)
*Entering 2 BD competitions and having to withdraw from both due to horse having sore back from saddles not fitting (see above)
*Having to buy two new saddles
*Not being able to persuade horse of the merits of a)SJ and b)leaving the fences up (see above - sore back and ulcers arrrgh).
*Horse breaking my toe

Non-horsey highs:
*Getting engaged
*Setting up and running my own successful company

Non-Horsey lows:
*Actually, none I can think of, I am incredibly lucky - took me ages to sort out work when I got back from the USA but that pushed me into working for myself which is the best thing I have ever done.

New Year's Resolutions:
*None. Except get fitter and do not break myself in run up to wedding.
