Although having read T_E's post about the increase in entry fees maybe I should just flog him to someone who can afford to run him?!

Or, and this is my preferred option, accept that I'll be putting myself under even more pressure to get good results from less outings.

Just remember all the best horses go out about 4 times a year - a main spring and autumn event, with 1 prep run before each! He's just been practicing for **** level!

That'll be all I can afford with the new entry fees.

Maybe Hector was sent to me by the God of Thriftiness, showing me how to event on a shoestring? Step 1, buy a nice horse. Step 2, budget for 7 events max per season. Step 3, accept that you'll only get to 4 and be delighted at all the money you've saved, thanks to the afore-mentioned horse.

k9h, if Father Christmas gets me the heart rate monitor I've asked for, Hector might not have to be worked so hard to get his lazy a**e fit.
