2014 plans?

Just missed out on ks aim of breaking 70 at elementary this yr by 0.3%! Bit of rubbish start to yr with her accident being hit by a car but thankfully got better. Big fella and baby horse going really well, getting good results!
Just to have fun but id like to go to some nice champs...petplans, regionals etc.

Good luck everyone (or should one wish limb breakage?) on all your goals! :)

For the Spooky Pony, I aim to complete his Silver Thistle in 2014, hopefully in the first half of the season (that means one more 60km and an 80km, at a minimum of 11kph). The second half of the season was a write-off this year, as he lamed out twice in a row and then I didn't have the time to get needed fitteners in, so I need to be really organised about it.

For the Ballerina Mare, I want to get her out and about dressaging by February, really sort out my own bad habits and work much more to a plan (as far as that goes). If we could do an Elementary by the end of the year, that would be awesome! I'd also like to start her jumping. She's 7, but hasn't done much of that to my knowledge.

Not really sure to be honest! Bit of a how long is a peice of string question for me..

I want to get the 4 year old out and about starting with a dressage comp at the end of January. I'm taking things at snails pace with her as I have very high regards for her so it really depends on how she goes. Best case scenario would be a BE 5yo class or two before the end of the season, but I'd be happy just to do the odd unaff event and possibly even some ridden showing just to get her out seeing thing.

I think she's going to be something very special so am in no rush to produce her.

Squirrel should hopefully come back into work after his collaterial ligament damage. I'm 99% certain we won't be doing affiliated competition anymore as he has BE points but I think he deserves to take it down a notch and not be pushed to do Novice+ as this is where I find we just start to find things tricky. He can do 1m with his eyes (or eye!) shut but at 1.10m the cracks start to come out and I find of feel with a dodgey leg and arthritic hocks he deserves to take it easier. I don't really see the point in paying the fortune to affiliate him when I can't even aim to Q for any champs so we're probably just gonna have some fun. Maybe some unaffiliated championships or see if now he's a few years older he can be sensible out hunting (but given his field antics lately I doubt it).

We don't post on here very much but gave been thinking about 2014 aims quite a bit recently. Really just want to carry on going out and having fun but main aims are to qualify for m&m worker classes at equifest, by the end of the year do some puk or bsps m&m worker classes, plus do the native pony performance trials in sept. My other aim, which I almost dare not say 'out loud' as it where is to enter our ridden class at the great yorkshire show and not look like muppets, but we'll make that decision just before entries close!!

While my aspirations are some mediocre compared to most on here, I have been really pleased with how we have developed over the year. We have gone from constant eliminations to a 1st and 2nd in eventing and show jumping and really my plans are for more of the same. He will be 22 in 2014 so I need to be mindful that he may start to need a quieter life so while I would like to move up a level it will depend on how he feels. We accomplished my goal of going hunting for the first time today :) I would really like to transfer the walk we had on the hack home to a dressage arena. I would also like to get out a couple more times if I can before the end of the season.

We have got lots to aim at in the first half of the year - Winter Regionals at Prelim/Novice, Petplan Champs at Novice and then of course Badminton Grassroots. Not sure I have specific goals of where I'd like to come. Top ten at any of them would be awesome but I'll be happy as long as I feel like we've done our best.

After that I want to get him out at Medium and get some points, qualify for Elementary Regionals and do a few BE100's. If we couldqualify for the Blenheim Trizone Challenge that would be cool.

We are well on the way to qualifying for Elementary Regionals, would also like to get out and do a few Mediums. However, the biggest goal of all is to find Titan a lovely home in the spring before I head off to university in September! :(

Really have come so far and proud of it! Start of this year wouldn't hack out alone or jump at all... had a bit of a confidence blip! have had a fab year, got mojo back and rosettes at local and county shows and took on number two 3 mths ago. Plans are for me with my 5yr old mare is to go eventing in march and April using combined training in Feb as warm up..
Also planning lots of fun beach rides etc ( this time last year wouldn't have ridden her in an open space lol)
With my 8 yr old pending dna testing will be aiming for Connie performance hunter Classes:) and lots of unaffiliated jumping

Will be a busy year for mini me aswell, she will be competing in the under 8 sji league, she has worked damm hard and stirrups down 3 holes in past two mths due to growth spurt which has made her have much more stability in the saddle over bigger jumps for a young child on a small pony. She will also be aiming for first ridden class in Rds.

Busy year ahead lol!

Well hopefully soon get my new mare out to do some Novice tests, and up to Elementary by end of 2014,

I'm planning on a few unaff 1 day events too, nothing great height though.

Jumping wise hopefully some BN/ Disco she only just starting to learn to jump and it's all very green still at the moment. Does not come natural she more a dressage horsey.

Roll on 2014....

Our last two seasons have ended early with broken jockey or broken horse so I think the main aim to to get through the year with both horse and jockey in one piece!

Other than that......

To get them established at Novice, if they are looking super confident, then possibly to run in a late 1* but that is the "stretch" goal.

To continue to improve the mare's dressage with a view to registering BD later in the year, targeting Petplan qualification at novice and regionals at Prelim.

Above all - to have fun and continue enjoy our lovely horse.....

I'm generally more of a 'training' than competing person but I think I will try and get out to do some low key dressage on my mare this year - it will be my first time competing since a bending race 40 years ago but she is going so well that it seems a pity not to. She will also (if all goes to plan) do some show jumping and eventing with my 15yo and maybe some polocrosse as she seems to have taken to it.

Hoping to be able to post rather than browse in here! Taking my 4 year old up to a new trainer today for our first ever lesson together. Then going to look at some dressage comps whilst trainer gets us jumping soon

I have a 4 year old to back and my other horse will be 5 and is coming on wonderfully. He has been mainly hacking as a 4 year old with the odd schooling session. I hope to get him out and about to do some dressage and small clear rounds and I'd like to go to the beach and Xc schooling. No massive aims - hope to have both of them for life so taking it very slowly. I think the 4 year old will be tricky. I'm hoping he will prove me wrong!

mines leaving me!!....shes going out 24.7 for the next 12-18 months !.....shes only 3 so planning to bring her back ar rising 5, she needs to go grow :)

will be watching this season on the sidelines and plan 2015 to be our year instead :D

Im not planning a thing :p it goes belly up every time i do :( Horse is currently broken so the only goal for next year is to get him sound and ridden, anything else will be a bonus.

Good luck everyone for 2014 :)

Im with you on this one!! If you dont make plans they cant go wrong! I am also hoping the broken one fixes next year... Ohhhh the joy of horses!!

Saw this today and thought very apt for everyone planning to compete this year:)

Currently my main ridden horse is off games for another 3-6 weeks with what I'm hoping is just a hock strain. Vet seems pretty confident so fingers crossed. When she's up and running again we'll be aiming for JumpCross at Grassroots level, to jump clear at 70cms in show jumping and maybe brave the dizzy heights of 80cms! We'll probably also, do a bit of dressage; not our strongest point but I'm beginning to quite enjoy it.
My semi retired one seems to be enjoying herself again, so I'll be hoping to continue having some lovely hacks out on her.
My fully retired one is 29 in 2014, so the aim with her is that she survives the year! She's currently very feisty; I'm sporting a lovely bruise on my arm where she got me a good one last week. Thankfully she doesn't have many upper front teeth, so it's a patchy bruise!

Sound, happy horsies; that'll do me.

Me too! It's been a long and torturous process getting Alf right - and I think I'll be happy just to enjoy him in a low key sort of way this year. Doubt he could go out and compete at his previous level without breaking, and he has too many points for the level he could do without hard training, so he will hack and do some at-home poncing. I am slightly toying with the idea of Veteran showing, just so he can go to some parties. You never know - he might end up at Olympia!

Last year I wanted to get Vanilla to jump Foxhunters well - and she did. Then I became very ill and didn't compete for the second half of the year. My goal for this year is to become more established and jump the Foxhunter at Royal Windsor in May, get the missing Newcomers Dc's so she can do second rounds (with my trainer, too big for me) and maybe have a go at a 1.25m - that is my limit!

Support sister and Maggie (who is going brilliantly) to qualify summer BD Regionals at Medium and hopefully try an Advanced Medium before end of year. :)

Another who likes training more than competing (nerves!) so I'd like to get pony established with flying changes and half pass this year (first lesson with a new instructor this week, can't wait to be taught how to ride properly!). I would like to take him to keysoe unaff ode in the autumn, just the 80cm, shouldn't be a big deal but I'm such a coward, so I'm going to try to get him out much more often so we can learn to enjoy it!

most importantly - i want to have fun with my sound happy ponies- after that, id maybe like to get both ponies out at county level, for a laugh! Take tiger out and hit 67% at novice (pb of 66.81 so far!) and work toward an unaff elementary at the end of the year, maybe do some bd on a ticket (probably be a chicken and do prelim/nov) id also like to do a workers competition on him! id like to debut lola at prelim and maybe do a couple of bd prelims on her too.. and take her out to some xc schooling, same with T! they basically have the same goals to be honest!! good luck everyone :)

Get an elusive DC eventing. Now we're members there's more chance of me achieving it. We were on a ticket this season so only had four chances :biggrin3:

Hopefully, fingers crossed *whispers* have a go at a Novice by the end of the season. Finished off with two 100's this season and an 11th place at Little Downham so hopefully pick up where we left, a 100+ then a Novice.

The plan for my horse is for her to have a foal, fingers crossed. She lost one in April with 9 weeks to go (twisted umbilical) so she's been told to behave herself and act her age !

To do our first advanced driving trials :D and compete in an FEI level event here and go over to the FEI german pony champs :) And to backstep round Breda for the mice.

However, I might be doing a term of uni over the holidays in the states which literally wipes off all my spare time- 57weeks work to fit in one year so it might be a very quiet year indeed.

I'd like to take him to baby SJ, doing a dressage that's a bit saner and respectable and baby XC schooling but it depends on my plans and driving first.

I'm hoping I can really get going with my old man again this year, he's had most of the winter off so far but after christmas is all over I want to get cracking with getting him as fit and muscled as I can so we can get out and about a bit more this year!

And with my 3y/o welsh I want to get him out to start in hand showing and carry on his ridden education - learning to canter!
