Off piste but why do people subscribe to a YouTube channel? Is it to show support and help the person get advertising and income? I watch a couple of female HGV truckers and a Scottish guy who does travel ones but don’t subscribe. Don’t watch any horse ones.
I subscribe to a few YouTube channels. Mainly to keep up with which ones I like as there's lots I'm not interested in. It will then show when a channel I've subscribed to has a new video up. For smaller channels I do like to think my subscription helps them out a bit although I'm not quite sure how watch/subscribe/like/comment translates to their income via YT. More subscribers would make them more appealing for potential sponsors or brand advertising partnerships.

It means you get notifications when they post a new video. There's certain people I like to watch who don't always put out videos to a set schedule/very frequently, so I get reminders if they have posted. I think it also makes youtube more likely to show you videos from other similar channels which you may like. I guess it's also a way to show support, but I *think* likes have more to do with that? I do always try to remember to like if I have taken something useful from a video, for example!

Have a canter transition that doesn’t regularly involve the pony’s best roadrunner impression.

Have a canter that can go around corners without motor biking

Improve self carriage / acceptance of contact in trot (aka make it happen more readily/ more often with less warmup needed)

Get around a TREC PTV course without having to get off (unless for a mandatory led section!)

Do some more Working Equitation (hoping for at least 1 more Northern Regional as currently only 2 in reasonable travel distance & both at same venue!). Contemplate Novice if I can improve the canter but realistically think this will be a next year goal as we can’t even maintain balance around a corner NVM a small circle around a barrel and think that’s too wide a gulf to cross in a relatively short timeframe given it’s taken a year to achieve actually going around a corner in a very inconsistent way even if the balance is absolutely not there right now.

*whispers very quietly that would like to start the very beginnings of working towards piaffe, even if just on the ground to start with, under no illusion that this will be rather a long journey as he’s not exactly built for this stuff but I think it may help the penny drop with some of the other stuff*

Question sanity for attempting to do vaguely dressagey things with a pony more suited to lugging stags around with all the natural work ethic & forwardness of an arthritic slug

Wonder if I can still use the lost years due to Covid / illness & injuries (& being chucked off yards) excuse for why my 8 yr old is more at 5-6 yr old level?… Maybe if I combine it with the “Highlands are slow maturing” excuse?
