Surprised that Kitty King isn't on the list
She isn’t qualified- needs to have done a 4*L or 5* in the last 12 months and, because she got spun in trot up at Luhmuhlen, she didn’t complete
Nice to see Piggy's name back on a team list! As an observer, I'm not sure how I feel about Gemma Stevens.
I appreciate it is all about the results to secure funding for next medal cycle etc. But having recently been published in a list that have not have not paid staff minimum legal wage, being selected for a team feels like 'Oh well, does it matter?' especially given how hard anyone's groom's and team on that list would work. But perhaps it doesn't matter when it comes to team selection.
HMRC publish lists of businesses that have been found to pay staff less than minimum wage, so breaking the law, in effect.I obviously missed this bit of controversy…. What happened?
They get a warning and then need to pay it. If they don't then it goes further.Interesting. I wasn't aware of this either re Gemma and it looks like Pippa Funnell is on the list too owing £2746.
What's the penalty for this, does anyone know?
Mr Townend squeezing yet more out of 18 year multi champion Ballymoor Class. Just what do world class superstars have to do to earn a step back.
The superstar was tired and lame at the Badminton trot up. I am too soft no doubt, but I've always held the thought that when a horse of any discipline has won all there is to win he/she has earned a wind down retirement, not necessarily total field retirement, but just less big asks and pressure.

It's the annual name and shame list and I normally have a look and it's huge this year. Probably because of the change in minimum wage. It works out at £1628 per person which I am not saying is insubstantial but that is the difference between old min wage and new min wage pretty much. Her accountants or bookkeeper needs firing.
Friends of mine have had this problem. They were providing loads of training, in house as well as trips to clinics, opportunities to compete and visits to other venues for paid staff, well in excess value wise of what they would have received if paid min wage for the hours that they worked. However not paying minimum wage so fell foul of the law when someones parent lodged a complaint, despite their offspring (late teens) being more than happy with the arrangement. So what they do now is pay minimum wage, still offer free in house training but outside of paid hrs. This means they are within the law, still providing some training, but the extra trips / clinics etc now have to be paid for by the employees if they want to go.HMRC publish lists of businesses that have been found to pay staff less than minimum wage, so breaking the law, in effect.
Gemma Stevens is on a recently published list https://www.gov.uk/government/news/over-74-million-put-back-in-working-peoples-pockets-by-employers

Businesses in Sussex named and shamed for failing to pay minimum wage
A number of firms and individuals in Sussex have been named and shamed by HMRC for not paying minimum wage.www.theargus.co.uk
It looked like she underpaid staff by just under £5k. It might not be hugely controversial - but personally, a part of me can't help but feel if you want to be at the pinnacle of your sport and rewarded for it, not breaking the law whilst running your business should sort of be a minimum requirement of that. But it might be something I feel more strongly about than other's.
How many per country compete at the Euros? Is it a team of 4 plus 2 individuals? I think I read somewhere that he host country no longer gets to enter extra individuals.
Blimey that opens it up a bit for someone! But obviously very exciting for Ros! You wouldn't have known watching her fly around Hartpury this weekend!Sadly can cross Ros off the team list - fair play to her annoucing ahead of time, for an excellent reason!

Was withdrawn this weekend at Hartpury so possibly there’s a problem. What about Cooley rosalent? Second at badminton winner at burgham 4* S very recently.
Having won at burgham two weeks previously with the horse Oliver T did not need to run. The other 4*S section at burgham was won by piggy March and halo . They were entered at hartpury too but withdrew likewise. Was withdrawn this weekend at Hartpury so possibly there’s a problem.
Agree. Plus Tom. Re my previous post Oli didn’t win his section at burgham ( Tom and Piggy were the two section winners)but did a lovely double clear with a few time penaltiesThings go on at the insider level that we are unaware of. My take is Oli and Piggy have got the nod.
Congratulations to Ros!
Froggy picked up an injury in Luhmuhlen I believe. Spun at final HI. Not been out since.Sad to not see Walter but lovely for Ros.
My guess is London, Dublin, Rosalent, Halo and ..?? Would have liked to see Froggy but sounds like not.
