Yeah wasn't long listed because of the issue in Luhmuhlen.

I must have missed Harry being out of action - did he have a fall?

Harry & Oli are entered at Frickley instead of Hartpury.

I’m wondering whether they’d have been long listed anyway. Harry had a nasty fall off a bike.
 
Ouch how unfortunate!

I think Kitty would have been long listed if she'd finished Luhmuhlen well - they have always been the bridesmaids and so close to the team slot. I think they were travelling reserve at the olympics last year.
 
Surely she's not doing burghley if she's not doing the Europeans when they are only a couple of weeks apart?

If you mean Ros - Burghley's earlier than the Euors timing wise, and also there's no team pressure. It'll be totally up to her and owners whether the horse runs, or simply does the dressage and goes home again. You can't do that in a team competition environment.

On the double-entries, I'm surprised more aren't double-entered, but then still got Pau to come as well.

Yes I did. It would be fabulous to see them at Burghley just surprised as the XC will be harder but yes get your point about no team pressure.
 
Burghley always suffers entries wise in a Championship year. I expect we will lose a good chunk more as well once teams are announced.
 
Every year is a championship year for Burghley! It’s why the entry list is never quite as competitive as Badminton but often more interesting as new 5* horses and riders emerge. Next year it’s the world championships , in 27 it’s the Europeans and in 28 it’s the Olympics. Sometimes the timings work better as last year when Ros did the Olympics and could follow up at Burghley but this year it’s the wrong way round for the horses.

He did dressage at Frickley today with both Cooley Rosalent (and Ballaghmor Class) so I would agree. WD both before jumping, which wouldn't be unusual at this point.
 
France have announced their team of men of a certain age. Tough to be a young up and coming rider or female.
It's only since William, Pippa and Tina retired and sadly Nicola no longer able to compete that we have seen new names.

If clip my horse do a special “once off” edition, as long as it was a reasonable price I would purchase..but cannot/will not buy yearly subscription as was caught out over Badminton and paid twice…

For me, personally, I think eventing (and XC) should be a good test of endurance and I do find it interesting that continental riders (particularly Germans) seem to only run their horses on easy courses. I get why they do it, but I do find it interesting.
