21 day cooling off period

A friend told me that by law every horse you buy can be returned within 21 days, even if it is as described.

What I'd love to know is if anyone has used this and if in practise it works. It seems such a good protection.

First I've heard of it - the only legal recourse you have is through a dealer - private sales are not covered at all.

I agree with scotsmare. I'm afraid a private sale has barely any comeback at all.
