So since there have been a few talks on animal communication.. I thought although not completely related I would ask peoples interpretations of the 21 grams..

If you're not sure what this is, when a person dies there is 21grams that is not accounted for.. investigations into water loss, gases etc have all been done, but still no one knows where this 21grams is lost.

Some say its the soul leaving the body, to me, I can believe this. Im not hugely religious and believe faith doesnt always have to be found in the church, mosque or wherever you choose..

So what do people think?

I've just googled this and one of the links says that a persons spirit does not weigh anything, it is weightless and unmeasurable in the same way intelligence is. But who really knows what the answer is. Interesting post to ponder. I believe that nature is so vast and wonderful, the human spirit so strong and powerful and the world so infinite with depths that we have not even discovered that it cannot possibly all be over when you die.

My old Dane had a very distinct smell about her as she got older that no amount of shampoo would shift, kind of like bakewell tart. When I had her pts I was cradling her head and resting my head on hers telling her I loved her always. At the moment she sighed and relaxed the smell went. I could smell her on my jumper but not from her head, nor could my husband or the vet.
At that precise moment something left her body, her soul I guess. Since them I have been told by a medium she is still with me, I occasionally smell her too. Am I nuts? Probably!!

Where does this 21grams weight loss info come from? very strange.

It came from some scientist bloke back in 1911 (or maybe 1907 depending on which source you use) but his equipment wasn't very precise and he didn't have that many corpses to test, so it was pretty inconclusive and as far as I've googled, nobody has carried out a similar experiment since.

There have been experiments on mice and at their point of death they have lost weight (obviously not 21 grams lol) ;)

What I want to know is what happens when you are clinically dead and then become revived again. An old family friend of ours died twice in the ambulance on the way to hospital. Did he lose 42 grams (2 x 21)? Or did he lose it and gain it?

And for those really interested in this, here are results of the experiments done on animals at the moment of death. http://www.scientificexploration.org/journal/jse_15_4_hollander.pdf
