How terribly tragic and devestating :(

A stable/barn fire is my worst nightmare.

RIP horses and calf and thoughts to the poor owners.

Am I not the only one who thinks the Americans need to be re-thinking their barn designs? This happens far too often. Dozens (if not hundreds) of horses and other animals have been killed in barn fires over the past year alone. This might have very well been a tragic accident, but these fires are fast becoming regular occurrences in the USA.

How terrible for all the animals.

Never liked the barn system all those horses sharing air space a recipe for respiiatory problems plus viruses .

We moved to the US 4 years ago and though this fire risk is a worry for us you need to live and keep horses here to realise that the traditional stable row just doesn't work in the extremes of cold and heat we have to endure for long periods. You can only take all the precautions possible to reduce chances of fire.
