It appears, according to Society for Welfare of Horses and Ponies (SWHP) facebook page that another horse has died. It seems to me that little appears to have been done by the authorities to deal with the dire situation down there. Has anybody got any experience of situations like this ever being dealt with promptly to relieve the suffering of the animals and the desperation of people trying to help?

Yes I understand what you are saying. I think in this case there are so many horses (150+ in one field) that a large bale of hay or whatever he is providing is not enough for the number of horses there and you can imagine only a small number of the stronger, dominant ones will get any. I know in nature only the strong survive but these horses are not wild - somebody is supposed to be responsible for them. I can only hope that as the grass grows (if there is any), the situation might improve although I would guess there will be mares in-foal, so even more mouths to feed. I obviously don't live near Bridgend so don't know if it has reached the same crisis point as Spindles Farm - let's hope not, but something definitely needs to be done as this situation has been going on for months.

I'm afraid I'm a bit of a novice at adding links and things (basically don't have a clue) so all I can suggest is the SWHP (Society for the Welfare of Horses and Ponies) website has a link to their facebook page. There also is something on the RSPCA facebook page saying they are not ignoring the situation.
