I have taken delivery of two mini shettie stallions to keep my boy company for a while.

After lots of squealing from the two little boys and lots of them backing up to my boy and kicking him they all settled down nicely.

However, I am now aware of how insecure (unsecure?) my field is for little ponies, especially stallions! My two strands of electric tape have now become 6 strands between wooden posts with plastic posts every foot between the wooden posts.

Any advice re keeping such tiny ponies, particularly stallions?

Any advice??

Um, I just wish you all the luck in the world. I have one who cannot be kept in for love nor money. I've done the six strands thing and was left with just a pile of tape and a pony loose on ten acres.

In all honesty, some escape alot, some don't. One of mine never bothers at all and will just stand where you turn him out (he;s a saint).

I know lots of people don't condone it, but sheep netting (properly fitted) really does work for the worst offenders.

My mini stallion is a pig to keep in if he gets it onto his head to be gone. I have stock fencing up from the ground by six inches to reach about four foot then electric tape six inches above that. I put the tape up after I found one of my young mares was pregnant, he'd been over the fence and back before anyone saw him!

I was going to suggest stock fencing too. It realy depends if these two are the nice type that stay where they are suppose too or the wicked type that escape at every single chance. Good luck with them!!
