28 YR OLD MARE LOGISTICS FOR FRIDAY

Not wishing to rain on anyone's parade but can't help thinking that the seller might get wind of all this hub-bub on HHO and pull her from the auction. :( I know I wouldn't want to turn up knowing there could be several angry HHO's there who think the seller is an evil cow-bag.

I don't think there's any danger of 'angry' HHO's having a go.

The priority is to get the mare.

Exactly Amymay and I believe the bidder is doing it on our behalf - its not one of us. There is no reason for ANYONE to turn up at York and start a strop, the important thing is to try and secure the future for this mare.

So far as I know there will only be Martin and myself at York. I dont think either of us is likely to accost the owner.

Hope anyone else who turns up respects that.

It's great that she is being rescued :) but just shame it can't be done in a more discreet manner to stop anyone thwarting plans.

I for one would be very disapointed if the Seller is given grief by a HHO Member.

AFAIK the appointed HHO Members are rational individuals, so I dont envisage any histrionics from them.

As unpleasant at this situation is, there is no need for anyone attending to make a scene. The quicker and quieter this is done, the better.
ATEOTD, if the Mare is secured, all well and good..and far better if it passes without incedent.

Nobody right now knows all the whys and wherefores she is at the sale - and as long as she can be quietly and quickly taken to a guaranteed safe place I think that's all that matters. I do expect everyone will remain objective and dignified throughout :)

Ooops ^^^ what the above poster just said!

well done HHo :) so heartening to see people pulling together to make sure the old girl gets the lifelong home she deserves:) i know none of you are doing it for the glory but you should all be proud of yourselves:cool:

There will be NO disrepecting the owner of Rosie I can assure everyone of that. (I will personally eject them :p lol and I'm a BIG girl PMSL)

In a situation like this only one 'person' is important and thats Rose.
If the owner is there then hopefully they will have some comfort in the knowledge that Rose is going to live out her days in luxury.

This post is heartening and shows how lovely h&h members can be!
However it's got me thinking how many more aged horseslike this poor old mare go through the sales unnoticed!
Emw is a great organisation and has struggled in this tight economic climate and needs our support. Does anyone have the txt number you can txt donations to and exactly what you put to ensure emw gets the donation?

JUST RECEIVED FROM EMW

For donations by far and away best is via Just Giving button on www.emwuk.org.uk website button. I'll ask Jane to account this fund seperately. If you are a UK tax payer it will automatically add gift aid if you tick the box. We can settle the cost of her from the EMW emergency account and pay back into it from donations in to cover her expenses to the sanctuary. Sorry I'm a bit behind as only just back in and catching up

please put on the FOR OLD MARE ROSIE

Thank You

Another thing is we are booked for an event on saturday so if possible could she be brought on the last leg of the journey on sunday? It's not vital as we have volunteer staff there but it would be nice to be there when she arrives.

You can use here as a stopover point if needed, have already done it before for EMW with two shetlands. We're just off the A49 so an easy run down to Hereford from here plus easy to get to from the North, splits the journey nicely in half.

Just offered a stopover on the facebook page, hadn't seen this Pat, sorry. Let me know if I can help in anyway if she comes to you.

Regarding moving on from Leeds

IMO she should stay up here until Tuesday at least.

I have travelled horses over the bank holidays, all it takes is an accident and you can be parked on the motorway for 6 hours. Even if everything goes well it will take longer.

My younger horses stress at that long a journey never mind an oldie.

After reading all these offers of support on here, I would like to say that the thread the other day slating off HHO really should be retracted shouldn't it ? ok so a few cross swords occur here and there and of course some ritual bitching, but that happens in daily life/on yards etc, BUT lets be fair it takes a great bunch of likeminded folk to pull off something like this and all with one thing in common - to save this mare and give her a home for life, well I for one think its fab and hope it all goes to plan, again i'm too far away to help physically but will donate happily to help with fundraising. GO HHO ;)

Sorry dumb phone!!!
I was saying I'm sure you all have everything sorted!!!
For what its worth Yorks sales used to be a regular haunt of mine - I've not been for years, although my friend goes everytime & she says prices are always very low so you shouldn't have a problem with limited funds. Tbh last time I went it was mostly travellers buying so unless she's a coloured you should have easy bidding!!

Good Luck & please keep us informed xxxxx

It is sooo lovely to know that like someone has said that through the nasty threads there is a thread like this one and previous other one that you are all pulling together to help this mare out.

It is so warming to know that people are going out of there way to help the old lady bless her heart and all for the knowledge that she will end up in a peaceful home to live her days out rightly so too.

Best of luck to all on Friday I do hope someone does get her and not the meatman or a novice person going for a cheap pony.
(the threads are giving me goosebumps)

Transport for the whole journey..YORK to EMW Bromyard is CONFIRMED.

Donations are coming in (Thanks)

All is left now is a successful Bid on the Day

Famous HHO Vibes from now til then please :)

Can't do anything to help apart from donating a few pennies, but just want to wish everyone involved the best of luck. And add in an early request for photos of Rosie ASAP please :D Hope she isn't too poor looking.
