I'm on the look out for some 2nd hand mains clippers. I used to own some Heiniger Handy clippers many years ago. Are these still worth getting or do you have any other recommendations please?

Looking on marketplace there are the following all under £100:
Hauptner
Professional Showmaster
Wolesley
Masterclip
Unbranded set

I think I'd decide based on whether or not there are good manufacturer's service and repair options available for the brand. That way you'd stand a better chance of having any future problems fixed for a reasonable price.

I love my cordless masterclips! They zip through thick, dirty cob hair. I've dropped mine 3 or 4 times now and managed to do no more damage than a chipped blade. You can usually pick them up second hand for about £70. I think they are only about £200 new if you can stretch that far.

I picked up a second hand set of Lister Laser clippers off eBay about 10 years ago. They were fairly old already but are still going strong and do about 25 full clips each year.

Honestly, I've had such a bad experience buying second hand I would look at new. Admittedly mine are battery operated and it's the battery I've had issues with but nonetheless it's put me off buying second hand again, even though they are now supposedly fixed (I really hope so!)

I have a set of Wolesley Swift clippers. They are a well established company who have been around for years. I bought mine about 18 tears ago & they are still ru8nning fine. When I first bought them I had one pony, I now have 3 horses & although they're not the most powerful in the range they've never let me down & I keep the horses clipped easily. They're not as fashionable as some clippers but they are a sturdy workhorse
