Hi ,

I'm thinking of selling my lorry through Central England Horse boxes. Has anyone had dealings with this company ?

Any other companies you recommend. I'm a bit wary about getting ripped off.

Thanks.

You have to bear in mind they are in it to make money and to some degree you are putting all the risk on them. They more than likely will not offer you anywhere near what you think its worth because of that. Generally most sellers end up with them when they suddenly realise their box is not worth what we thought it was. so be prepared

One option worth looking at is advertising privately but paying a local "general HGV" dealer to handle viewings and payment etc...

Thanks everyone.

I guess there are problems selling privately as well. Difficult to know what to do as there hasn't been much feedback on another fotrum I go on. I may test the water by putting an ad in Horsequest which is where I would look if buying.

I advertised mine on Dragon Driving and the British Carriage Driving websites. DD is £5 until its sold, and BC is free ( you can advertise as a Guest). Sold in a week at the end of Nov last year.

My FIL had a rather splendid box which he put up for sale with a lorry dealer <ridiculously reduced price but one they have to make a profit and two my FIL wouldn't have the public near his property>

I arrived at my yard to see my FIL's beautiful box on my neighbours driveway, I had no idea she was looking for a new box and as my FIL lived miles away I wouldn't of thought of suggesting it anyway

So in essence FIL sold his box to dealer for huge loss, neighbour bought it for top money, dealer made a quick huge profit...... but I suspect everyone was happy as they all achieved very quickly what they all set out to do

Yikes! I would have been peaved.
Perhaps the o.p. might do just as well to pop a card up in local tack shops/feed sellers/livery yards...
