just wondering if anyone has had any experiance with selling their saddles on ebay.
I have a Frank Baines and a Stubben saddle and need to sell them, both are great condition so no reason why someone would not want to buy them but do people really pay a good amount for 2nd hand saddles and on ebay?

I know people do, i did look on ebay for a saddle and then worried it wouldnt fit and opted out!!

If people know what they are looking for then i would definatly say they would pay good money for a saddle on ebay!! Good Luck

less on eBay than through a saddler usually, because every buyer is taking a chance on it fitting their horse so want to pay as little as possible in case they have to resell it. The advantage of course is that if you sell on ebay you get your money straight away, you might have to wait months for a saddler to sell them on

Our saddlers want 15% commission and we disagreed on the price I wanted to get for my two saddles which I am going to put on ebay in March. I bought 2 saddles on ebay last year and they were perfect and less than I would have had to pay if I could have found one 2nd hand with any local saddler. The secret is to describe perfectly and put on lots of good photos showing all the girth straps, the top, underneath etc and of course have it really well cleaned and oiled so it looks super

I have sold an Bates Isabell (the leather one) and a Stubben on Ebay, got a stunning price for the Isabell and was happy enough with the price the Stubben made. The popular "known" brands tend to make the most money. With Stubben you should be able to quote the seat size and the tree width, people who know the brand will understand the sizing and be happy enough to bid.

great, is it best to list them now or wait a while, what about the frannk baines, as i said looks new, it s adressage saddle, do alot of people like the brand?

Go onto ebay and look at what else is for sale by Frank Bates and what sort of bidding and prices they are making then you will know what people are prepared to pay and if they go well. Good luck

I've sold saddles & also bought saddles on Ebay. I sold a dressage saddle about 3 weeks ago on Ebay that I bought 12 months ago on Ebay. I was lucky I actually sold it for more than I bought it for.

There is no secret to selling them Just be honest about what you are selling. Be accurate in your description & if their is a fault, a mark or something mention it & if possible photo it.

Take sharp photos of side, under flap, top as a minimum. Put yourself in the buyers place. Show things you would want to see & describe all you would want to know.

Quality counts & there will always be a market for a quality saddle, put a reserve on them & see how you go. Sometimes you may have to relist them because reserve has not been met but you will sell them.

I've paid around £500 each for two saddles on Ebay & consider I got bargains.

I gave up trying to sell my saddle in the local saddlers. They charge 20% commission without making any effort at all to sell it (they only take brand new saddles out for fittings to clients) what a rip off!

Anyway, it sat there for 5 months gathering dust so I took it home and advertised it on eBay and got only £15 less than I had paid for it the year before - bought 2nd hand from a local tack shop!

I've sold another the week before Xmas. didn't think it would sell but had plenty of bidders, so maybe every time is the 'right time'!!
