Not askiing for critique on her, just wondering if you think she is a Fjord. She is being sold as a Fjord, but it says nothing about that on her papers. She is just down as 'selle'.

I am in France so may not mean anything to anyone, but I don't get it either as she is nowhere near a Selle Francais, and I don;t know what else they can mean. The owner can't shed anylight on it, just that she paid an awful lot for the pony 5 years ago.

We are still haggling on the price as I want to pay less than asking price, as it is a pony of non origin, 15years old. Plus sides real confidence giver, great for me and kids. Thats what I am basically paying for.

Anyway, what do you think she is? I think she looks like a Fjord but mixed with something else, maybe a Henson.

She is not a full fjord. There are few things fjordlike about her - obviously the most noticeable one is colour but even then she is a very dark dun, a richer dun like that isn't very common in fjords. Her mane & tail are slightly fjord like, in that they have different colours through the hair, and the markings on her legs resemble a fjord but she is nothing like a fjord in her build. If she does have fjord in her she's not even half.

Definately not full fjord...something with a bit of blood to it from the face and bone?

Hope you find a good price her though if she's everything you're looking for :)

Is her breeding available on her papers or is she ONC or OI? "Selle" just means she is registered as a saddle horse.

Definitely do NOT buy her as a fjord if her papers can't back that up.

If you have her SIRE number I can check on the Haras Nationaux website for pertinent details, if you'd like :)

I feel sorry for the lady as she paid quite a bit of money for her, buying her as a Fjord. Now they still want over 2000 euros, but I don't really want to pay that so trying to haggle down. But she is a sweet little pony, and does what it says on the tin so to speak.

She is ONC. Not much on her papers, other than the owner, her date of birth and saddle breed.

It depends what you want her for. If you are specifically wanting to a buy a fjord then that she isn't. You say she's a confidence giving family pony - if that's what you're looking for then that she is and you go for it, breeds/looks irregardless. :)

Would say not but no expert, they have very thick necks where they join the shoulders(very thick set and triangular, smaller at base of head) but a fjord is thicker set and also has some stripes somewhere(I think dorsal...bit like zebra can have on its back). Also seem to have head up in air a bit from what I remember. More upright horse??? Tend to have darker hooves/feet shadowing??

Unless they have papers.

Here is a pic of one of my fjords to compare (even if he is a bit chubby in this photo!!)

I like the look of her, I think she is a very pretty thing.

Do you want a Fjord or do you want a safe, sensible family pony?

Safe, sensible family pony. Rode her today, the weather is awful with lots of rain and wind. She was very well behaved and even took my two young children out for a ride on her down some country lanes. Thats what I am looking for.

melxvengeance he's a lovely looking Fjord. And no she doesn't look like that! I knew she wasn't a pure bred, but still was thinking maybe a bit of a Fjord. I think they think she is a Fjord as that is her name!!

So she's not a pure fjord... try to get the price down, but don't lose a good pony over a couple of hundred euros. If she's really everything that you want, she's worth E2000.
