Took Tali a quick hack to the beach to see how she was. She seemed totally herself, very spritely and happily popped into trot, canter and gallop and back down so hoping she just wasn’t feeling it on Tuesday. I know I will question every little thing she does for a while though.

I tried her in the sea for the first time solo and she went in without any fuss on the first ask. We just dipped our toes and had a wee wander. I’ve never really pushed her with water, she wasn’t a big fan when I first got her, so I’m really chuffed how she’s come on without me working on it.

eta it was raining when I got home from work so had tea and motivated myself to go a ride when the rain had stopped. That is a small crappy win for me. Last year I never would’ve bothered considering it.
I would looooover somewhere like that to ride! Well Jell!

Oooh, I'm sorry you are unwell. Maybe try a rehydration tablet/powder a couple of times a day? If you have too much water without re-balancing, that is not good.

Thank you. I definitely don’t drink enough fluids in the day. In fact, I had a few sips of orange juice all day yesterday, while working in the salon and when I finished I felt unwell and couldn’t stop drinking. I guzzled down all sorts until about 9pm and just couldn’t quench my thirst at all. I also hadn’t eaten anything since breakfast and ending up having my lunch at 5pm, so that didn’t help.
Will take a big bottle of water into the salon with me today!

Did Pepsi’s and my first BS show this morning! Something neither of us have done before.

Decided to throw us both in at the deep end and enter BN and 95cm-1m open. He’s plenty capable, and we’ve done two unaff 95cm classes before (though not for a few months, as have been eventing and sticking to 80s) but I was so nervous.

I needn’t have worried. He made it feel very easy to just roll one pole in both classes. Plus he somehow managed to cope with the very dodgy lines in the BN where I was so nervous I forgot where half the fences were ?

Lots to work on, he does sometimes take change and decide he knows best. But I’m over the moon with him, and we were on a ticket so was all for the experience anyway! Thinking I might join for the winter to give us a chance to work on things…

Had a fantastic day!!
I was run ragged all morning as we were a little short of helpers but everything fell into place and most competitors were very well behaved.
Ended up scribing Novice, Elementary & Medium classes plus a couple of 4yo & 5yo tests.
The judge was excellent, he knew I was a novice to it and paced his comments and scores perfectly and gave me some additional explanations where he could which was fab. He was a list 1 judge so I’d say he’s done his time with newbie scribes ?
Finished up on time and went straight to the beer garden for a pint ?

Baby horse and I did an extra show! Bless living a short walk from a show ground. It was a 'stressless' so no need for show gear. I did wear my new shirt though, just because I like it!

Our class was at 10am, we just had a steady time. I just want lots of little, easy experiences, so he can get used to the show atmosphere without worry. He came second in the 65cm, here he is sporting his first jumping rosette. Hacked home, washed off, back in the field before 11. He will be back in for 12.30 out of the heat.

I thought it was supposed to get cooler today?299315727_10222782177407022_3663793103452559035_n.jpg299193498_10222782177487024_1303524891394757878_n.jpg

He is so damn cute and I just always get reminded of Bear when I see him. He looks to have that sort of constant happy disposition where he never puts his ears back?

Yep. Loves being caught, loves being brushed, loves being ridden...

Not perhaps the horse I would have chosen many years ago, but he is now perfect!

@Michen - sorry to see the 100 didn’t go quite as planned. Epic photos though!!
Well done to all of those who had successful outings, there are some fab pictures on this thread.

The BHS education day yesterday was good. Chilli’s fat score was 4-3-3.5 (they taught us to break it down into front / middle / hind sections) and his weight was 552, though it was 509 on a weigh tape. Great to have a baseline to monitor and Chilli was very helpful!

Polework today and Chilli wasn’t at all bothered about the heat, he was just as spicy as usual.

Fairly successful day today at Field House for the area festival - did the novice silver with 5yo and he got 67.5% and finishes 10th in a big enough section. Would have been closer to 69/70 if he hadn't thought that a trio of judges tables and flower arrangements at one end were rather spooky! Only his 5th ever Novice test, so pretty respectable. Winner was on 70, so all rather closely grouped. Spotted that a yard friend had broken down on way home, so managed to circle around in the lorry to pick them up once police had closed the road so that they weren't hanging around for hours stationary in this heat.

A day of two halves for Jack at his first BD show.

He’s not a particularly spooky horse but something caught his eye near the judges box and he was very reluctant to go anywhere near it in his first test. Plus it was hot ? (for Scotland, anyways…).

So a career worst of 63.6-something and 3/3 for that one. Second test was better as we at least made it past C without dribbling to a stop but he felt flat as a pancake and I had to ride every. single. stride. ?

Worth it though as he managed a new PB of 67.91% and 2/4. He got his first shiny BD points and he’s qualified for the Scottish champs at Rockrose next month.
Very pleased with that considering he only started doing dressage about 8 weeks ago.

Awesome day at Eland team ODE.

7th individual with a DC.
3rd placed team
Currently sitting in a qualifying position for Brigante Cup Champs at Frickley with 2 events to go. I can’t do either of them, so may yet drop down so it will a very nerve wracking wait to find out. Love Lottie so much. She’s just fabulous! She could have gone round twice.

Pics to come!

I absolutely loved the riding of the marches yesterday. Tali was so good! We walked into the street for the speeches and there was 100’s of spectators and she stood still and just took it all in. She jogged a good bit of the way to start with which I didn’t mind as it was very exciting and we hadn’t ridden with that many horses before and a completely different route in the town too. I just can’t believe how well she stood when we stopped.
she was very funny when we got to the beach. She wanted to speak to everyone going past and tried to steal the sandwiches and pimms. We finished up shortly after the beach. We did about 8miles in total and that’s the furthest we’ve hacked and she managed much better than I thought.

It was one of my favourite horse events this year I think. I just loved it. Hoping there’s more pics to come but here’s one of us on the street. 84FDF4AB-1EFB-4831-AF8D-D54F13DF3010.jpeg

Very pleased with our outing.
Frustrated with myself mostly as let my nerves get the better of me when Harn had a little moment of jumping around. He returned to being chilled pretty quick so I just need to follow suit!
I was really pleased with the test, as we're definitely now getting a better tempo and rhythm (still room for improvement) having been working very hard on our straightness we did lose marks for crookedness, I think possibly I didn't help matters due to nerves which then made me a bit crook too. But didn't go wrong in the test and not a single mention of the word tension which is a huge plus! 59.78%, we did get a couple of 7's which I was really pleased with.
Not 1 nice pro pic which is so disappointing lol but thankfully my friend got some pretty shots, nice and sunny in the outside warm up arena :)
I think I just need to crack on and keep getting out and about and over myself lol!
