The above is currenly standing exactly 16 hands. She's looking fit, but a tad ribby and leggy still, due to being out in a herd of wild babies who've been keeping her active all summer. I brought her in for some one to one this afternoon, and a good munch on hay and measured her whilst I had the chance. For those who's babies were 16 hands at the same age (almost 28 months), how big did they make in the end?

i bet on a jmb she would be 15.2. dont wish them tooooooo big. that brings another set of problems. she will probably reach 16.2 then bulk out. how big big do you want? WB slow to develop so wont reach full height strenght bulk til 6 or 7 years. assume said beast is well wormed? do not force feed grow. bad for joints. i got a 17 hh 4 year old but if measured would be 16.1 or 2. mother nature will sort. feed and watch...

My youngster was 2 years old on 13th of July and he's a good 16.2 well he was the last time I measured him. lol. Just thinking about buying his rugs for this winter. I'll be buying 7ft ones, he's a big lad! Only ever had bog standard boring food, grass and hay! Reckon he's going to be mahoooooosive!

Blimey, in 7ft rugs at TWO!!!

I hope mine finishes at 16.2 max, but when I've done the mid-knee to coronet measurement I get 17 inches. Eeeek. 17 hands??? No thanks. 16.1 to 16.2 tops, will be quite big enough for me. I'm only 5'1" and bred her to make 15.3

What breed is he? And how big were his dam, sire and G/Parents? Did you anticipate the height or was is a total surprise?

In all fairness he's bred to be big, he's a Spanish Norman (Andalusian x Percheron). Dad is 16.2, mum is 17h but a huge 17h. Apparently grandad was 18.2. OOOps. he was 15.1 on his 1st birthday and 16.2 on his 2nd. I put a 6'6 rug on him last night and it was like a mini skirt, very funny. May as well buy a 7 ft rug as 6.9 will only just be ok! He's going to be a superb heavyweight show hunter (I hope). Off to Hunter Championships at Addington with him.
