Mine too have seen a fair bit of action, and will be lucky to last another 10 years never mind 3,000. However, I am more interested in the sometimes overlooked influence of riding on the way we dress, even now, when 99.9% of the population move around in tin cans rather than on horseback.

Every horse riding culture has "invented" or discovered the trouser, from the Altai peoples to the North American Plains Indians. Having a sore bum will do that to you...........
