I'm looking for a 3/4 length coat but must be warm the waterproof ones with just a lining I don't think will be warm enough. I'm so sick of my thighs and bum being cold but my upper body warm.

It's taking me all afternoon to get warm after being at the yard for the morning and I'm at my wits end.

Please help me :( £100 max budget !

I havent got an exact perfect solution but thought I would reply as it seems no-one else has either! I don't know if you mean for riding in which case it wouldn't work and I think you'd be better with softshell fleece lined winter breeches and or full fleece lined chaps. But for yard work I currently live in a long lands end down coat. Its water repellent rather than proof technically but seems to be keeping the weather off me! And its soooo lovely and warm like wearing your duvet outside :) (but without hindering you!). They are £130 on website but I'm sure I got mine on some kind of % off deal for £90. Mine is the 'chalet' one and comes down to mid calf but Im sure they do a mid thigh one as well :). Dont know if thats of any use?

I bought a black craghoppers one in autumn initially just for dog walking but I do everything including ride in it now because it is so versatile and warm.

To keep thighs and bum warm I wear waterproof over trousers, I don't find the coats very warm. I put the trousers on on top of my jods and they keep me nice and toasty :)

I've got a lucinda green one..sooo cosy & warm..cost about £150 I think but think available on sale now.

I bought a Dublin one at YHL. Even in this freezing weather it has kept me warm. It's fleece lined so not to bulky, has poppers at the back you can adjust for riding. Got extra materials around the cuffs that's tight around your wrist so no draft gets up! Wasn't particularly expensive either

As Becca above,I have the Lands End long down 'Chalet' coat. It is amazingly warm (&has a down hood too, which stays up around your face!) The down filling is a very dense one (more so than cheaper coats) so it is super-warm. It washes like new. I wished I'd bought it a few winters ago!
It isn't waterproof but I've put my jack murphy long wax coat over it before-as the down coat is so lightweight,it squashes nicely underneath the waterproof one.:)
Lands End have them in a sale at mo,I think.

If you want warm lower half buy some ski pants ,I could not live with out mine they are water and wind proof , so warm they are not rubber inside like the old type water proofs ,REGATTA do some nice longer jackets ,you can find them on the net. Hope this helps .

If you type in on net CHARLIES I bought my regatta 3/4 length jacket from them a couple of weeks ago reduced from £60 to £36 ,they have quite a few shops and do mail order ,well worth a look . I think it was Billy Connelly the comedian who said there is no bad weather only the wrong clothes.
