OMG am going tomarrow to see a box for sale, taking yard owner with me, its 07 plate, being built now, and ive been looking for ages then chance talk to some one who knows another someone and if I want it can have it finished to own specs......
Very self indulgent post I know, so so happy and its in my price range....

ooooo exciting! i want one two! out of interest where are you getting it from?

ive been looking at loads as i am sick of running 4x4 as the repairs are silly money and it is OH main car, not got a big budget though so i will have to search for a bargain!

have you had one before ? :)

It's all very exciting & it's very easy to make up your mind before you even view it but remember to look at things objectively. You must find out what the ulw will be for the box & then you will know if it really is a 2 horse box or a 2 pony box. Remember that you will need to factor in your weight, passenger's weight, fuel, tack etc plus the horses you want to travel. If there is not sufficient payload (invariably 3.5 ton lorries are 1 horse/2 pony) then walk away.

I hope it all works out well for you, I have 2 horses & there is no way I could carry them, have me & passenger etc etc & remain in weight.....& the fine if caught is huge. :)

Yes, its a lightweight chasis, and ultra light build, its a firm near us in n wales who are renown for 3.5 ton with large payload, it will be done on local weighbridge unladen b4 I part with cash, I have 3 horses, but 1 is very slight 15h TB and my ID gelding, and Alfie is the young eventer, who will only travel on his own in it. The name of the firm is BOSS .
Have loked for ages for a lorry with enough payload for me, I will be carefull its the one

sounds like you have thought it all out! i'm so jealous, i should of checked what part of the country you were in, there is no way my OH would let me drive to whales to get a horsebox lol :(
i too would only be carrying one TB, no one at my yard would go with me anywhere anyway! unfortuately i usually go everywhere myself hence wanting a nice wee horsebox instead of unreliable 4x4! Happy driving :)

Just how light? Seems almost too good to be true! Mine has a very good payload, and I still won't be able to carry my two girls together once Titch has grown a bit more.

Looks interesting. What is the payload? (sorry I can't find it in the brochure).

The other thing I would want to check is that the breast bar can be easily dropped in case of an emergency.

No they dont seem to quote it, however I would be suprised if its much more than 1200 kg as the renault chassis are about 1800 kg before they build the box on them ....

That's about the same as mine then (I have 1,250kg to play with). With a 15hh cob weight 547kg and Titch growing fast, I can't take 2 in mine for much longer.
